UQ Global Leaders Scholarship

The UQ Global Leaders Scholarship is the University of Queensland's headline international scholarship — open across undergraduate, master's, and HDR levels. Open to applicants with a conditional or unconditional offer for a full-time UQ programme — Bachelor's, Master's (coursework), or HDR (Master's by Research / PhD).

Strong Academic Record

Minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0 (equivalent to a UQ credit average — roughly an upper second-class for UK frame, or B+ in Sri Lankan UG terms) and competitive school results for UG entry.

A short leadership statement (300 words) is the differentiator. Examples include community service in Sri Lanka, sports captaincy, debate, school prefect roles, or a startup/social-impact project.

Apply for a UQ programme

Submit your UG, PG, or HDR application via uq.edu.au/study/apply. You need a UQ application number before applying for the scholarship.

Submit the scholarship application

Once your application is lodged, complete the Global Leaders Scholarship form via the UQ Scholarships portal — short academic justification + 300-word leadership statement.

Round assessment

Applications are assessed in scheduled rounds — Sem 1 main round closes 30 November, Sem 2 main round closes 31 May. Decisions come 4-6 weeks after each round closes.

Accept your scholarship

Successful applicants receive an offer letter detailing the scholarship value. Accept via the portal and the tuition discount is automatically applied to your fee schedule.
