Your office visit
What happens at your free office visit
Every consultation with Lanka Scholar happens in person, at our Rajagiriya head office or our branches in Jaffna and Matara. Here's what to bring, what we'll cover and what happens afterwards, so you get the most out of the visit.

What to bring
Please bring
- check_circle Your passport or NIC
Bring these too, if you have them
- check O/L and A/L result sheets (or your predicted A/L results)
- check Degree certificate and transcripts, if you're applying for a Master's or PhD
- check IELTS, PTE or other English test results, or the date you plan to sit one
- check Your CV or a note of your work experience (useful for Master's and MBA applications)
- check A rough yearly budget, and who will sponsor your studies
- check Any countries, universities or courses you already have in mind
Don't worry if something isn't ready. Photocopies or phone photos are fine for a first visit, and we'll tell you what is still missing.
At the visit
You sit down with a counsellor, and your parents too if they come. It's a conversation, not a sales pitch.
We read your academic file
A counsellor goes through your results, degree and English level with you. They'll tell you where they're strong and where they're a problem, before a university or visa officer does.
We talk through destinations and courses
We cover the 18 countries we work with and compare them for your profile and budget, with tuition and living costs in LKR, intake dates and post-study work rights.
We're honest about your chances
If a university is a stretch, or a visa route is risky on your finances, we say so. We'd rather lose a student than send one to a refusal.
You leave with next steps
You go home knowing what to prepare, what to fix, and when you need to start for the intake you want.
After the visit
- arrow_forward If you decide to go ahead, our team opens your case in the student portal. You can then follow your application there.
- arrow_forward Documents and drafts (transcripts, sponsor letters, SOPs) can be sent over WhatsApp or email after the visit.
- arrow_forward There is no pressure to decide on the day. Take the advice home and talk it through with your family.

Why we only consult in person
We stopped phone and online consultations on purpose. Meeting face to face is better for you, for three reasons.
You can see that we exist
Study-abroad scams in Sri Lanka usually run over the phone and WhatsApp. A real office, with a counsellor you can sit across from, is the simplest proof we're genuine.
Your documents get read properly
Most visa and admission problems are in the paperwork: a gap year, a weak sponsor file, a missing MOI letter. That is easier to spot with the originals on the table than on a phone call.
Your family can be part of it
Parents usually pay, sponsor and co-sign. Bring them, so the people making the decision hear the same advice you do.

Common questions
Is the office visit really free? expand_more
Yes. Lanka Scholar does not charge students: universities pay us when a student enrols. Tuition, visa fees and English-test fees are paid directly to those organisations, never to us.
Can I have the consultation over the phone or on video instead? expand_more
No. All consultations happen in person at one of our three offices. You can phone or email us for directions or help with booking, but advice on your application is given face to face.
Do I need an account to book? expand_more
No. Choose a branch, a day and a time on the booking page. You get a confirmation email with buttons to reschedule or cancel, so you don't need to log in.
What if my results or English test aren't ready yet? expand_more
Come anyway. Many students visit before their A/L results or before sitting IELTS, because that's the right time to plan. Bring what you have; we'll tell you what is still needed.
Can my parents come with me? expand_more
Yes, and we recommend it. Most families come together, because the sponsor usually needs to understand the costs and the documents they will be asked for.
Which office should I choose if I don't live near one? expand_more
We have offices in Rajagiriya, Jaffna and Matara. Our district pages show the nearest branch for each of the 25 districts in Sri Lanka.
