UNSW International Scientia Coursework Scholarship

The UNSW International Scientia Coursework Scholarship is one of UNSW Sydney's most generous awards for incoming international students. It provides AUD 20,000 per year as a tuition discount across the full standard duration of an eligible Bachelor's or coursework Master's. Most UNSW faculties participate. Selection is automatic — every eligible international applicant is ranked against the entry score for their chosen programme, with no separate application required.

International Fee Status

You must be classified as an international fee-paying student at UNSW. Sri Lankan citizens applying from Sri Lanka qualify.

Eligible UNSW Course

Bachelor's (3-5 years) or coursework Master's (1-2 years) at UNSW Sydney. Most undergraduate and PG coursework programmes are eligible; research degrees and the AGSM MBA suite are excluded.

Your UNSW Selection Rank (based on your final-school or undergraduate transcripts) needs to be at or above the cut-off for your programme. Roughly equivalent to UNSW credit/distinction level (65%+ average for PG).

There is no separate application form. UNSW Admissions automatically ranks every eligible applicant when they apply for admission; offers are issued together with (or shortly after) the academic offer.

Submit your full application via apply.unsw.edu.au or through an authorised representative (Lanka Scholar handles UNSW lodgements at no cost). Include all final transcripts and English certificate.

Meet the term deadline

For Term 1 2026 (February intake), apply by 31 October 2027. Term 2 (June) and Term 3 (September) intakes have rolling deadlines but earlier submission improves scholarship odds.

Admissions ranking

Once your application is complete, UNSW ranks you against the merit threshold for your programme. No separate scholarship form is required.

Scholarship offer + acceptance

Eligible applicants receive a scholarship offer in their applicant portal alongside the academic offer (usually within 4-6 weeks of complete application). Accept both to lock in the award.
