University of Skövde Tuition Fee Scholarship
The University of Skövde (Högskolan i Skövde) is a public university in western Sweden with a distinctive reputation in game development and computer games, alongside data science, informatics, bioscience, and manufacturing/production engineering — its games programmes sit at the heart of a well-known Swedish games cluster. For non-EU/EEA students, who pay tuition in Sweden, Skövde offers its own tuition-fee scholarships covering a portion up to the full fee for the strongest admitted Master's applicants, awarded on academic merit. For Sri Lankan applicants drawn to games, data science, or applied AI, Skövde is a focused, specialist option with industry ties and a smaller, more personal environment than Sweden's big universities. Keep expectations honest: the award reduces tuition only, you must still show and fund living costs for the Swedish residence permit, and full-fee scholarships are competitive. Apply via the national universityadmissions.se round, then follow Skövde's scholarship instructions.

info How this award actually works
Who awards it
University of Skövde — not Lanka Scholar. We are not the awarding body and cannot grant, reserve or guarantee this award.
How you are considered
Through your admission application. Awards like this are usually assessed automatically from the application you already submit — there is typically no separate scholarship form to fill in.
What it covers
Partial to Full Tuition Fee Reduction. This is a reduction in tuition, not a full ride. You still fund the remainder, plus living costs and the balance your visa requires you to show.
Where we come in
We make the admission application strong enough to be competitive — course choice, documents, references and deadlines. The funder makes the decision.
fact_check Eligibility Criteria
Fee-Paying (Non-EU/EEA) Applicant
The scholarship applies to tuition-paying students — i.e. non-EU/EEA citizens. Sri Lankan citizens are eligible. EU/EEA students study free and do not use this scheme.
Academic Merit
Reductions are awarded on academic performance and admission ranking. A strong, relevant Bachelor's (and for games, a portfolio where required) from a recognised Sri Lankan institution competes best.
Admission to an Eligible Master's
You must first be admitted to a Skövde English-taught Master's participating in the scheme; the reduction attaches to admission.
English Proficiency
Swedish Master's require English 6 / IELTS ~6.5 (no band below 5.5) or equivalent, or an English-medium degree; a Sri Lankan MOI letter can help evidence English-medium study.
account_tree Application Process
Apply via universityadmissions.se
Submit your Master's application in Sweden's national round, ranking your Skövde programme, with transcripts, degree certificate, CV, English evidence (and portfolio if required), and pay the application fee.
Apply for the tuition-fee scholarship
Complete Skövde's separate scholarship application by its deadline — check the university website for the exact form and criteria for your intake.
Admission + scholarship decision
The university issues admission results and the tuition-reduction decision for scholarship applicants; the reduction lowers your invoiced tuition.
Pay remaining tuition and get the residence permit
Pay the first tuition instalment (net of the reduction) and apply for the Swedish student residence permit via Migrationsverket, showing admission, the reduction, and maintenance funds.

Looking for a scholarship because of the cost?
Then start here instead. Scholarships are competitive, usually partial, and decided by someone else — they are the least reliable way to make studying abroad affordable. Your destination and course choice move the number far more, and both are entirely within your control.
