SKKU International Student Scholarship
Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) — one of Korea's top private universities, backed by the Samsung Foundation — offers a tiered International Student Scholarship that waives 30% to 100% of tuition fees based on admission academic profile. Awards renew each semester subject to maintaining a minimum GPA. Sri Lankan A/L applicants with strong results (3 A grades or strong B-mix) are competitive for at least the 30-50% tier; outstanding profiles (3 As + SAT 1450+) target full-tuition waivers. SKKU is consistently ranked top 100 globally with particular strength in Business, Engineering, and Natural Sciences.

International (Non-Korean) Citizen
Open to international undergraduates. Sri Lankan citizens are eligible — both parents must also hold non-Korean citizenship to qualify under the international student admission stream.
Tier by Academic Profile
Sri Lankan A/L mix → 30-50% tier (typically 3 Bs and a C, with English-medium predicted grades). 2 As + 1 B / 3 As → 50-70%. 3 As + SAT 1450+ / IB 38+ → 70-100% tier.
English-Taught Programmes
SKKU offers a wide range of fully English-taught undergraduate programmes — Global Business Administration, Global Economics, Information & Communication Engineering, and others. No TOPIK requirement for these tracks.
Maintain Minimum GPA
Each scholarship tier specifies a minimum CGPA to renew (typically 3.0-3.5 out of 4.5). Fall below and the scholarship drops to the next-lower tier (or lapses for the 100% award).
account_tree Application Process
Apply to a SKKU Bachelor's
Submit your SKKU international undergraduate application via the SKKU online portal by the intake deadline (1 November for Spring / March intake; 1 May for Fall / September intake). Include A/L transcripts, English-test results, references.
Automatic scholarship assessment
SKKU admissions reviews your academic profile and assigns a scholarship tier in the admission offer letter. No separate scholarship application form is required.
Accept the offer
Confirm your place by accepting the SKKU offer and paying the deposit by the stated deadline. The scholarship tier is locked in for the first semester.
Korean visa + arrival
Use the SKKU offer letter (which states the scholarship tier) for the D-2 student visa application via the Korean Embassy in Colombo. Arrival is in early February (Spring) or late August (Fall).
