NUS Global Merit Scholarship

The NUS Global Merit Scholarship is one of Asia's most prestigious undergraduate scholarships — a full-tuition + living + hostel package covering the entire four-year Bachelor's degree at the National University of Singapore. Awards include SGD 6,000 per year living allowance, hostel subsidy, and a settling-in stipend. Selection is extremely competitive: typically only the top 1-2% of international admits are awarded. Sri Lankan applicants need exceptional A/L results and demonstrated leadership to be shortlisted.

Sri Lankan applicants typically need 3 A grades at A-Level with very high marks (90%+ in each subject) plus strong UTS-style aptitude. The scholarship is benchmarked against IB 42+ and SAT 1500+ as comparable thresholds.

Apply to NUS Undergraduate

Submit your NUS undergraduate application via the online portal by the standard deadline (typically late February for August intake). Indicate your interest in scholarships in the application.

Scholarship Shortlist + Interview

Shortlisted applicants are invited to an interview (virtual or in-person) typically in April-May. The interview panel assesses leadership, intellectual curiosity, and fit with NUS.

Final Selection

Awards are announced alongside or shortly after admission decisions in May-June. The Global Merit award supersedes lower-tier NUS scholarships, so applicants accept the highest offer.

Accept and Maintain CAP

Accept the scholarship and confirm enrolment. Renewal each year requires maintaining a Cumulative Average Point (CAP) of 4.0/5.0 or higher at NUS — a strong B average.
