NUS ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship

The NUS ASEAN Undergraduate Scholarship is funded by the National University of Singapore for outstanding undergraduates from ASEAN countries (excluding Singapore). It covers full subsidised tuition, a S$5,800/year living allowance, accommodation, and computer allowances. IMPORTANT for Sri Lankan applicants: Sri Lanka is NOT an ASEAN member state, so this specific scheme is not available to Sri Lankan citizens. We list it here because Lanka Scholar sometimes advises ASEAN-passport dual-nationals on Singapore options — Sri Lankan applicants without ASEAN citizenship should instead consider the NUS Global Merit Scholarship or NUS Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship, which are open to all internationals.

1

Confirm ASEAN citizenship first

Verify your ASEAN passport / citizenship status. Sri Lankan-only nationals are NOT eligible — speak with Lanka Scholar about the NUS Global Merit Scholarship or NUS Science & Technology Undergraduate Scholarship instead.

2

Apply to NUS undergraduate admission

Submit your NUS undergraduate application via the NUS online portal by 1 March 2026 for August 2026 entry. Include pre-university transcripts, English-test results (SAT recommended), and your scholarship preference.

3

Scholarship interview

Shortlisted ASEAN applicants are interviewed (typically online) by the NUS scholarship committee. Selection weights academic merit, leadership, and articulated post-graduation plans.

4

Offer + bond agreement

Successful candidates receive a joint admission and scholarship offer. The bond agreement is signed before commencement and Singapore's Student's Pass is issued for the August intake.
