LazioDiSCo Right-to-Study Grant
LazioDiSCo is the regional agency that runs right-to-study benefits across the Lazio region's public universities, including Roma Tre and Tor Vergata — Rome's universities that sit outside Sapienza's own separately administered system. Its grant is tiered by housing situation: EUR 2,290.16 for students living locally, EUR 3,590.71 for commuters, and EUR 6,571.11 for those living away from home, and every tier includes two free daily meals on top of the cash figure, which is worth more in Rome than almost anywhere else in Italy given the cost of eating out. The call sets out a specific clause for students not resident in Italy — you document your family's foreign income and assets through an ISEEUP, an Italy-equivalent income assessment, and that documentation must be certified by Italian diplomatic authorities, meaning a step through the Italian Embassy or an accredited channel in or connected to Sri Lanka rather than an ordinary CAF appointment alone. Build real lead time into this: certifying foreign financial documents through consular channels moves at consular speed, not university speed, and the ISEEUP itself carries its own submission deadline separate from the main scholarship window. Rome is expensive to live in even with the grant, so treat this as a meaningful subsidy rather than a full solution to the capital's cost of living.
Annual cycle — the A.A. 2026/27 window ran 10 June to 22 July 2026, with the ISEEUP due by 10 December 2026; watch laziodisco.it for the 2027/28 call

info How this award actually works
This is a separate, highly competitive application
Government awards like this one run their own selection round against applicants from across the world, and success rates are usually in the low single digits. Lanka Scholar does not administer it and cannot submit it for you. Treat it as a bonus on top of a funded study plan — never as the plan itself.
Who awards it
LazioDiSCo (Ente Regionale per il Diritto allo Studio e alla Conoscenza, serving Lazio universities including Roma Tre and Tor Vergata) — not Lanka Scholar. We are not the awarding body and cannot grant, reserve or guarantee this award.
How you are considered
Through a separate application round run by the funder, with its own forms, deadlines and shortlisting. You submit it yourself — it is not part of a university admission application.
What it covers
Means-Tested Cash Grant Up to EUR 6,571.11 Plus Two Free Daily Meals. Read the terms carefully: even fully-funded awards rarely cover every cost, and any shortfall is yours to fund.
Where we come in
We help you judge whether this award is worth your time, and build a realistic admission plan that works whether or not you win it.
fact_check Eligibility Criteria
Dedicated Clause for Non-Resident Students
The call includes a specific article on economic documentation for students not resident in Italy, which lays out exactly how a Sri Lankan applicant proves family income and assets for the means test.
Any Level, at Roma Tre, Tor Vergata and Other Lazio Universities
The scheme covers laurea, laurea magistrale, single-cycle laurea magistrale, dottorato di ricerca and scuola di specializzazione at Lazio's public universities outside Sapienza's separate system, which includes Roma Tre and Tor Vergata.
ISEEUP Certified by Italian Diplomatic Authorities
You need an ISEEUP prepared through an authorised CAF, with your Sri Lankan family's income and asset documentation certified by Italian diplomatic authorities — a consular step, not a routine paperwork exercise. The ISEEUP has its own deadline, 10 December in the 2026/27 cycle, separate from the main application window.
Grant Tiered by Housing, Plus Meals Everywhere
The cash amount rises with distance from home — in sede, pendolare, or fuori sede — and every tier includes two free daily meals, a genuinely useful benefit in an expensive city like Rome.
Academic Progress for Continuation
Keeping the grant into later years depends on Italy's standard minimum-credit progression rules. Track your CFU total against the required threshold each year.
account_tree Application Process
Apply for admission and complete Universitaly pre-enrolment
Submit your application to Roma Tre, Tor Vergata or another eligible Lazio university, and complete Universitaly pre-enrolment with attested transcripts, certificates, passport copy and language evidence.
Start the ISEEUP process early
Engage an authorised CAF for the ISEEUP and begin the diplomatic certification of your Sri Lankan family's income and asset documentation well ahead of the 10 December deadline — this step is the slowest part of the whole process.
Submit the LazioDiSCo application
Apply within the published window — 10 June to 22 July in the 2026/27 cycle — with your enrolment evidence and ISEEUP documentation on track.
Receive the grant and apply for the study visa
Successful applicants receive the tiered cash grant plus daily meals. Apply for the Italian type-D study visa with your admission letter, financial documentation and accommodation evidence for Rome's higher living costs.
Why Roma Tre or Tor Vergata, via LazioDiSCo?
Roma Tre and Tor Vergata are large public universities in Rome, each with strong faculties across law, economics, engineering, sciences and the humanities, and a right-to-study system that folds international students into the same means-tested benefit as Italian students rather than a small separate scholarship pool.

Looking for a scholarship because of the cost?
Then start here instead. Scholarships are competitive, usually partial, and decided by someone else — they are the least reliable way to make studying abroad affordable. Your destination and course choice move the number far more, and both are entirely within your control.
