INSA Lyon International Engineering Scholarship (ASINSA)

INSA Lyon is one of France's top public engineering 'grandes écoles', and its ASINSA programme is purpose-built for students from Asia who want a full 5-year French engineering degree (diplôme d'ingénieur, equivalent to a Master's). INSA Lyon offers merit-based international scholarships of up to €5,000 per year (around LKR 2 million) plus the very low public-university fee structure, making it a realistic and prestigious route for strong Sri Lankan A-Level science students. The ASINSA track integrates intensive French language teaching in the first years, so applicants do not need fluent French at entry — a major advantage over most French engineering schools. Strong Science A-Levels

Applicants need an excellent secondary-school record in mathematics and physics. Sri Lankan students with strong A-Level (or equivalent international) results in the Physical Science stream are the core target. INSA looks for genuine scientific aptitude rather than just grades.

French Taught Within the Programme

The ASINSA track teaches French intensively from year one, so you do NOT need to be fluent in French at entry — but you must be motivated to learn it, as later years are taught in French. A good level of English is expected for the international application.

Apply to INSA Lyon international admissions

Submit the international engineering application with transcripts (certified English/French translation), your A-Level results, a motivation letter, and references. Apply early — the international round closes well before the September intake.

Selection interview / review

Shortlisted applicants are reviewed by the INSA admissions board, sometimes including an interview (online for overseas applicants) assessing scientific aptitude and motivation.

Scholarship awarded with admission

Merit scholarships are decided alongside admission. Awardees receive a letter confirming the annual award and reduced-fee status.
