Émile-Boutmy Scholarship

The Émile-Boutmy Scholarship is Sciences Po's flagship financial-aid programme for non-European students. Named after the school's founder, it is need-based and means-tested with an academic-merit overlay. The amount depends on family income: top awards can reach €13,800/year for the 3-year Bachelor (across the 7 campuses including Paris, Reims, Le Havre) and up to €19,300/year for the 2-year Master's at the Paris campus. Sri Lankan applicants with strong A/Ls, French / English language proficiency, and demonstrable financial need are competitive.

1

Apply to Sciences Po

Submit your Bachelor's or Master's application via the Sciences Po online portal by the relevant deadline (2 February 2026 for Bachelor's; programme-specific for Master's). Include transcripts, references, personal essays, and language test results.

2

Tick the Émile-Boutmy box

On the application's financial-aid section, select Émile-Boutmy Scholarship and upload the requested documents — parental tax returns, employment certificates, asset declarations, and a need statement.

3

Admission decision (need-blind for admission)

Sciences Po admissions reviews the academic file independently of the financial-need declaration. Admission outcomes are released around April for Bachelor's, March-April for Master's.

4

Scholarship offer + visa

Admitted candidates who applied for Émile-Boutmy receive a scholarship tier offer alongside the admission letter. Use both for the French long-stay student visa (VLS-TS) application via VFS / Campus France.
