University of Brescia LMINT Scholarship

The University of Brescia runs two parallel scholarship schemes for non-EU applicants, and the distinction matters enormously for Sri Lankan students. The STAR scheme is restricted to nine named developing countries and Sri Lanka is not among them. The LMINT scheme, by contrast, carries no country list at all — it requires only residence and citizenship in a non-EU country and a degree obtained in a non-EU country, which describes a typical Sri Lankan applicant exactly. LMINT is worth EUR 5,060 and there were thirteen awards in the 2026/27 round. Brescia is a public university in eastern Lombardy with a solid engineering and medicine base and English-taught Laurea Magistrale programmes in areas including engineering and management. The academic bar is specific: a final grade of at least 80 out of 100, or a GPA of 3.2 out of 4, English at B2 or a degree completed in English, and an age under 30. You must also be enrolling in an Italian university for the first time, so this is not a route for students already studying in Italy. As with all Italian public-university funding, plan the bureaucracy: Universitaly pre-enrolment, attested transcripts, and a Declaration of Value all take longer from Colombo than the calendar suggests.

Annual cycle — the A.Y. 2026/27 round closed on 15 March 2026 with 13 scholarships awarded; the 2027/28 call is expected to follow the same annual pattern, so monitor unibs.it

Who awards it

University of Brescia (Università degli Studi di Brescia) — not Lanka Scholar. We are not the awarding body and cannot grant, reserve or guarantee this award.

how_to_reg

How you are considered

Through your admission application. Awards like this are usually assessed automatically from the application you already submit — there is typically no separate scholarship form to fill in.

payments

What it covers

EUR 5,060 Scholarship for Non-EU Applicants. This is a reduction in tuition, not a full ride. You still fund the remainder, plus living costs and the balance your visa requires you to show.

handshake

Where we come in

We make the admission application strong enough to be competitive — course choice, documents, references and deadlines. The funder makes the decision.

public

Non-EU Residence and Citizenship, No Country List

LMINT requires residence and citizenship in a non-EU country and a degree obtained in a non-EU country. Unlike Brescia's sibling STAR scheme — which is limited to nine named countries that do not include Sri Lanka — LMINT has no such restriction, so Sri Lankan applicants apply here.

school

Grade of 80/100 or GPA 3.2/4

You need a final degree grade of at least 80 out of 100, or a GPA of 3.2 out of 4. Sri Lankan class results are converted on equivalence — a Second Class Upper generally sits in range, but get your transcript's grading scale documented.

block

First Enrolment in an Italian University

The award requires first-time enrolment at an Italian university and an age under 30. Students already enrolled in Italy are outside the scheme.

English at B2, or a Degree Taught in English

You need English at B2 level, or a degree completed in English. For Sri Lankan applicants that second route is often the simpler one — an English-medium bachelor's with an MOI letter can substitute for a test, but confirm the accepted evidence with Brescia.

Italian Documentation Requirements

Why the University of Brescia?

Brescia is a public university in eastern Lombardy with strong engineering, medicine and economics faculties and a growing set of English-taught Master's. Its LMINT scheme is one of the few Italian awards that deliberately leaves the country list open rather than confining funding to a small group of partner nations.
