English-medium degrees, the 2-year Stay Back, the EU's friendliest job market

Trinity College Dublin, UCD and the new Technological Universities run entirely in English — no language pivot from a Sri Lankan A/L track. Combine that with the Third Level Graduate Programme (2 years post-study work for Master's, 1 for Bachelor's) and Europe's most active tech-and-pharma hiring market, and Ireland is the softest landing in the EU.

English-Medium, Top to Bottom

Every degree at every Irish public university runs in English. No B2 German or DELF B1 to clear before admission — your Sri Lankan A/Ls and IELTS get you straight in.

2-Year Stay Back

The Third Level Graduate Programme gives Master's graduates 24 months of full-time work rights, Bachelor's 12 months. Most Sri Lankan grads use it to land roles at Google, LinkedIn, Pfizer or Stripe Dublin.

EU + English-Speaking

Post-Brexit, Ireland is the only English-medium EU member. Your degree is recognised across the bloc, and you can apply for jobs anywhere from Berlin to Barcelona without a German or Spanish CV.

What it costs to study in Ireland

Ireland is not cheap — Dublin rents are EU-high — but the 1-year Master's structure keeps total spend competitive with the UK, and tech-sector salaries pay it back fast.

Note on Exchange Rates

Figures use an indicative rate of EUR 1 ≈ LKR 340 and the Irish Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) €10,000/year living-cost requirement. Tuition varies sharply between Trinity/UCD and the technological universities.

Common questions about studying in Ireland

Don't see your question? WhatsApp a Ireland counsellor — we usually reply within the hour, weekdays.

  • Do I get an automatic 2-year work visa after Master's? expand_more
Yes — the Third Level Graduate Programme gives Master's graduates 24 months of Stamp 1G work rights, Bachelor's 12 months. You apply for it after completing your degree; renewal needs employer support after 24 months.
  • How is Ireland different from the UK for Sri Lankan students? expand_more
Ireland stays in the EU, so your degree opens 27 country job markets. Stay Back is 24 months (vs. UK's 24-month Graduate Route too, but Ireland's is easier to convert to long-term residence). Tuition is similar; rent in Dublin is lower than London but higher than most UK cities.
  • Can I work part-time during study? expand_more
20 hours/week during term, 40 hours/week during scheduled holidays. Most students earn €12–€16/hour in retail/hospitality/tutoring.
  • Is the IRP card the same as the visa? expand_more
No. The pre-clearance visa lets you enter Ireland. The IRP (Irish Residence Permit) is the physical card you collect after arrival — it proves your Stamp 2 student status and is required for banking, renting and the Stay Back application.
  • Do I need IELTS? expand_more
6.5 overall is typical for Master's, 6.0 for Bachelor's. Most universities accept Duolingo English Test and PTE Academic as alternatives.
