Who we are
Lanka Scholar is a Sri Lankan study-abroad consultancy with a head office in Colombo and regional branches in Jaffna, Matara, and Batticaloa. We help Sri Lankan students apply to universities, prepare visa applications, and access scholarships across nine study destinations. This policy explains what personal information we collect from visitors to www.lankascholar.com and how we use it.
What we collect
- edit_note Lead form submissions. When you fill in a callback request, scholarship enquiry, or course interest form, we collect your name, phone number, and any free-text details you provide. Submissions are routed through FormSubmit.co to our counsellor inbox.
- forum WhatsApp message content. When you click any WhatsApp button, your conversation is hosted by Meta on WhatsApp's servers under WhatsApp's privacy policy. We store the chat history within our WhatsApp Business account for as long as you are an active or recent enquirer.
- insights Analytics signals (when enabled). We may use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-friendly product that does not use cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not collect personally identifying information. Aggregate page-view and outbound-click counts (including WhatsApp clicks) help us understand which content is useful.
- public Third-party embeds. Pages that include a Google Maps office-location embed cause Google to set its own cookies and receive your IP address. Google Fonts is loaded on every page; Google's servers log the request. These are governed by Google's privacy policy.
We do not currently run advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or session-recording tools. If we add any in future, this policy will be updated and visitors will be notified on first visit after the change.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry — by WhatsApp, phone, email, or at our Colombo head office or any of our regional branches.
- To send you follow-up information about programmes, scholarships, and intake deadlines relevant to your goals.
- To prepare your application materials when you formally engage our services.
- To improve our website content based on aggregate, non-identifying analytics.
We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it with marketing partners. We share your information only with the universities you have actively asked us to apply to, and with the immigration / visa authority you are applying to.
How long we keep it
Active enquiries: indefinitely while you are corresponding with us, plus 24 months after our last contact. Application records for students we have placed: 7 years from departure, to support immigration record requests and audits. Aggregate analytics: indefinitely (no individual identification possible).
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- See the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct it if it is wrong.
- Delete it.
- Withdraw your consent for ongoing contact.

Cross-border transfers
FormSubmit.co, WhatsApp, Plausible, Google Maps, and Google Fonts process data outside Sri Lanka. When you submit a form or interact with our pages, your data may be transferred to and stored on servers in the European Union, the United States, and other jurisdictions. We rely on these providers' published privacy commitments and security practices.
