A senior Lanka Scholar counsellor walking a Sri Lankan student through a university shortlist over coffee.
check_circle Free for students — universities pay us

Five services that turn a study-abroad plan into a boarding pass.

From shortlisting universities to forex on departure day, your counsellor stays with you through every step. No fees at any stage — we earn a referral commission only when you enrol, and the university pays it, not you.

The single biggest reason applications fail — handled by people who do it weekly.

  • check_circle Mock credibility interview before you face the embassy

Pre-Departure & Arrival

The two weeks before you fly — the part most consultancies skip.

  • check_circle Forex limits, money transfer, opening a UK/AU/CA bank account
  • check_circle Accommodation handover and first-72-hours logistics
  • check_circle Warm intro to the Sri Lankan student community at your destination

How it works

From first message to first lecture, in three stages.

The same counsellor walks you through all three — no hand-offs, no losing context between calls.

1

Free consultation

WhatsApp us, or walk into Colombo, Jaffna, Matara, or Batticaloa. We give you an honest read on your academic profile, realistic destinations, and a rough timeline. No commitment.

2

We do the work

Once you pick us, your counsellor handles applications, SOPs, scholarship submissions, and the visa file. You get a weekly status update so you always know what is next.

3

You land prepared

Pre-departure briefing, forex setup, accommodation handover, and a warm intro to alumni in your destination city. Most students hear from us in their first week abroad too.

Why students choose us

Three reasons families in Colombo, Jaffna, Matara and Batticaloa keep sending us their kids.

school

Free for students — for real

Universities pay us a referral commission when you enrol with them. That is the entire business model. You never pay Lanka Scholar — for the consultation, applications, scholarship coaching, visa file, or pre-departure briefing. We will sign that in writing if you want.

storefront

4 offices, real people

Walk in to our Colombo HQ or our branches in Jaffna, Matara, and Batticaloa. Same counsellor from first chat to departure.

Every level, every path

Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, foundation pathways, and short academic English programmes — same team, same five services.

reviews

No application leaves without a senior review

Every SOP, scholarship essay, and visa file is read by a senior counsellor before it goes out. Junior counsellors learn on the job, but they do not learn at your expense — the second pair of eyes catches the things that lose offers.

Common questions

The things parents and students always ask first.

Don't see your question? WhatsApp a counsellor — we usually reply within the hour, weekdays.

  • Do you really charge students nothing? What is the catch? expand_more
Yes, really. When you enrol at a university we have placed you with, the university pays us a referral commission. That is the only money in the system. You will not see an invoice from us — for consultation, applications, scholarship work, visa file, or pre-departure briefing. The arrangement is the same one you would get walking into a British Council or IDP-style office, just without paying a separate service fee on top.
  • Won't you push me toward the universities that pay you the most? expand_more
A counsellor's job is to keep their placed students happy — students who drop out, transfer, or feel pushed into the wrong choice destroy the referral relationship faster than anything else. Our incentive is to match you with the university that fits you. Every shortlist comes with the numbers behind it (entry odds, fees, employability, alumni feedback) so you can sense-check the recommendation — and challenge it if something looks off.
  • Can I use just one service — say, only visa help? expand_more
Yes. Many of the students we help on visa applications applied to universities themselves, or used another agent. Same for SOP coaching, scholarship work, or pre-departure support. You do not have to take the full package — tell us which step you are stuck on and we will scope just that.
  • What levels do you support — only Master’s? expand_more
Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, foundation pathways, and short academic English programmes. The 9 destinations and 5 services are the same across every level. The mix of services changes — Bachelor's applicants spend more time on UCAS-style personal statements; PhD applicants spend more time on research proposals and supervisor outreach — but the team and the cost (free) are identical.
  • How early should I start talking to you? expand_more
For most intakes, 9 to 12 months out is the sweet spot — gives you time for scholarship deadlines, a clean financial file for the visa, and a properly edited SOP. We do work last-minute when needed, but earlier means more options, stronger applications, and less stress in the final weeks.
  • Do you help students who have already been rejected? expand_more
Yes — visa rejections and university rejections both. We diagnose what went wrong (it is usually a fixable documentation, SOP, or interview issue), rebuild the application, and reapply. Reapplication is a regular part of what we do — bring us the rejection letter and the documents you submitted, and we will tell you honestly whether reapplying makes sense and how to strengthen it.
  • Can I meet you in person before deciding? expand_more
Yes — walk in to any of our four offices: Colombo head office, or branches in Jaffna, Matara, or Batticaloa. No appointment needed for a first conversation, but WhatsApp ahead if you want a specific counsellor. Out of town? A WhatsApp or phone consultation works exactly the same — we file your case the same way either way.

Not sure where you stand? Two-minute WhatsApp.

Send us your academic profile and target country. A senior counsellor will reply with a realistic read on your options — universities you'd be competitive for, scholarships worth applying to, and a rough timeline. No forms. No fees. No obligation.
