Trinity College Dublin
Course Overview
Trinity's MB BCh BAO (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, Bachelor of Obstetrics) is a 5-year direct-entry undergraduate medical degree — the Trinity School of Medicine has trained doctors since 1711 and the programme is recognised by the Irish Medical Council, the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC), the GMC in the UK, and the ECFMG for US residency pathways.
Pre-clinical years are based on the historic Trinity campus; clinical rotations run through St James's Hospital, Tallaght University Hospital, and the Coombe Women's Hospital. Graduates do a 12-month paid internship in Ireland (around €38,000 base) and qualify for the Stamp 1G Graduate Scheme to continue training. Most Sri Lankan graduates return home with a fully SLMC-registrable degree, or stay on into UK Foundation Year or US residency.
