Course Overview
Massey runs the only veterinary school in New Zealand, based at the Manawatū campus in Palmerston North. The BVSc is a 5-year (10-semester) qualification: the first semester is a competitive pre-selection phase, and based on those results plus the selection assessment, students are admitted into the 4.5-year professional phase. The degree is AVMA, RCVS and AVBC accredited — graduates can register and practise in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada and Singapore without needing a bridging exam.
For Sri Lankan students the practical appeal is the international portability of the licence plus a direct route to the New Zealand 3-year Post-Study Work Visa. Veterinarians are also on the Green List for Skilled Migrant residency, which makes Massey one of the most direct undergraduate pathways from Sri Lanka to long-term NZ residence.

Academic
- check_circle GCE A/L with strong passes in Biology and Chemistry (B grades or better); Physics or Mathematics recommended.
- check_circle Pre-selection semester (Semester 1) must be completed in person at the Manawatū campus — the professional phase is gated on Semester 1 results.
- check_circle Selection assessment plus interview shortlists pre-selection students into the 4.5-year professional phase.
- check_circle Practical animal-handling experience (farm, clinic or shelter) strengthens the application.

- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 90 Overall (min 20 in Writing).

Career Outcomes & PR
Massey BVSc graduates can register and practise in NZ, Australia, the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada and Singapore without a bridging exam — a near-unique portability among veterinary degrees. Veterinarian is on the NZ Green List, giving a direct route to residency. Graduates work across rural mixed practice, small-animal clinics (VetEnt, Anexa), government MPI roles and animal-health corporates (Zoetis, MSD Animal Health).
