Bachelor of Health Sciences
University of Auckland
Course Overview
The Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) at the University of Auckland is a three-year undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences — the only medical school in New Zealand's largest city. Students choose a major from Public Health, Personal Health Care, or Health Promotion, and study alongside MBChB (medicine), Pharmacy and Nursing students at the Grafton Campus.
The BHSc is the most common feeder degree into postgraduate health pathways in NZ — Master of Public Health, Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences, Master of Health Practice — and is also a recognised route into the Medical Programme via the Graduate Entry pathway. Sri Lankan students typically combine it with Auckland City Hospital placements through the optional 60-point Practicum.
