Finland Fees and discounts are set per academic year (1 August to 31 July). The EUR 12,000 rate applies to students starting in 2026 or later; the Early Bird window opens the moment your acceptance email arrives and closes 14 days later, so it is tied to your own admission timetable rather than a public calendar

Turku UAS Tuition Fee Scholarships and Early Bird Discount

Turku University of Applied Sciences is a large multi-field institution in Finland's oldest city, teaching engineering, ICT, business, health care and the creative industries. Its funding offer to non-EU students is best understood as a discount structure rather than a scholarship in the Commonwealth sense — nothing here is awarded on the strength of your Sri Lankan transcript. Tuition for a non-EU or non-EEA citizen on an English-taught bachelor's or master's degree starting in 2026 or later is EUR 12,000 per academic year, roughly LKR 4.14 million; students who began between 2020 and 2025 pay EUR 11,500 on their original terms. Against that, two reductions exist. The Early Bird discount takes EUR 1,000, about LKR 345,000, off the first year's fee if you accept your place within 14 days of the acceptance email and pay through Flywire within 30 days — a straightforward saving, but one that puts real pressure on a Sri Lankan family to move money abroad quickly, so start the bank paperwork before results are out. Transfer applicants and open UAS students are excluded. The larger money is language-linked: Turku UAS grants a scholarship of up to EUR 4,000 per achievement for certifying Finnish through the National Certificate of Language Proficiency at YKI level 2 (A2), level 3 (B1) and level 4 (B2), with a smaller EUR 2,000 tier where less tuition has been paid. Awards are processed as credits against your subsequent fee payments and require you to be an actively studying student. It is a deliberate design: Turku UAS is paying you to become employable in Finland.

Non-EU/EEA Fee Payers Only

Tuition and therefore these reductions apply only to citizens of countries outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland studying on English-taught degrees. Sri Lankan citizens are in that group.

schedule

Early Bird Is a 14-Day and 30-Day Race

To take the EUR 1,000 off, you must accept your study place within 14 days of the acceptance email and pay the tuition through Flywire within 30 days. Arrange your foreign exchange approval and bank transfer route in Colombo before results arrive, or you will miss it on logistics rather than money.

Early Bird Excludes Transfers and Open UAS

The discount covers joint, separate and rolling admissions but does not apply to transfer applications or open university of applied sciences studies. If you are moving in from another Finnish institution, do not budget for it.

The Big Money Requires Finnish

Scholarships of up to EUR 4,000 are granted for certifying Finnish at YKI level 2 (A2), level 3 (B1) and level 4 (B2). Only the official National Certificate of Language Proficiency counts. This is a genuine multi-year commitment alongside an English-taught degree, not a formality.

payments

Award Size Depends on Tuition Already Paid

The scholarship is tiered against what you have paid: the EUR 4,000 band applies where roughly EUR 11,000 to 12,000 has been paid, and a EUR 2,000 band where a smaller amount has. Ask admissions to confirm which band you fall into before assuming the higher figure.

You Must Still Be Actively Studying

Scholarships are credited against subsequent fee payments, so they only benefit you if you have future instalments to offset. A student who has already paid the full degree or who has suspended studies gets nothing from them.

account_tree Application Process

1

Apply through Studyinfo in a Finnish admission round

Finnish applications go through the national Studyinfo portal. Turku UAS runs joint, separate and rolling admissions depending on the programme, with entrance examinations or certificate-based selection alongside your Sri Lankan qualifications and English evidence.

2

Prepare your money transfer before the offer arrives

The Early Bird window is short. Open the conversation with your bank about outward remittance for education and the Flywire payment route early, so that a 30-day payment deadline is achievable from Sri Lanka.

3

Accept within 14 days and pay within 30

Confirm your place immediately on receiving the acceptance email and pay through Flywire inside the stated window to secure the EUR 1,000 reduction on year one.

4

Study Finnish and sit the YKI examination

Register for the National Certificate of Language Proficiency test at the level you are ready for. Each certified level from YKI 2 upwards can trigger a further award, credited against your next tuition instalment while you remain an active student.

5

Finnish residence permit and living costs

Apply for your residence permit through Enter Finland, then complete identity verification at the mission serving Sri Lanka, which Finland handles from New Delhi. You must show sufficient funds for living costs on top of tuition, so allow courier and travel time and confirm the current threshold with Migri.

Why Turku UAS?

Turku UAS teaches around 10,000 students across engineering and business, health and well-being, and arts and media, with a strong applied focus and compulsory work placements built into its degrees. Turku itself is a coastal city of about 200,000 on Finland's south-west corner, cheaper to live in than Helsinki and an hour and a half away by train. The heavily language-weighted scholarship design tells you what the institution wants: students who intend to work in Finland after graduating. Finland issues a post-study residence permit for job-seeking, and outside a handful of ICT and engineering roles, workable Finnish is what actually converts a degree into employment there.
