Sydney Scholars Awards
The Sydney Scholars Awards are the University of Sydney's flagship undergraduate scholarships for international students. Each award is worth AUD 6,000 to AUD 10,000 per year for the standard length of the degree (3-5 years), applied as an annual fee discount. Selection is purely on academic merit — every eligible international UG applicant is automatically considered when they apply for admission. Around 60-80 awards are made annually across all faculties.

Strong Pre-Tertiary Results
Outstanding final-school results. Sri Lankan A/L applicants typically need 3 A grades (or equivalent IB 36+ / Cambridge International A Levels A*AA+) to be competitive. The Sydney UAC selector score is the basis for ranking.
Hold a Sydney UG Offer
You must have applied to (or hold a place in) a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney. The scholarship cannot be held with a Sydney Foundation Programme.
International Fee Status
Reserved for international fee-paying students — including Sri Lankan citizens applying from Sri Lanka or any third country. Australian citizens and permanent residents are not eligible.
Automatic Consideration
There is no separate scholarship application. Every eligible international UG applicant is automatically assessed at the point of admission. You don't need to do anything extra beyond submitting a complete UG application.

Apply for a Sydney UG degree
Submit your undergraduate application directly via the University of Sydney portal at sydney.edu.au/study/how-to-apply or through an authorised Sri Lankan agent (Lanka Scholar can submit at no cost).
Submit by the Sydney Scholars deadline
For Semester 1 2026 (February intake), apply by mid-January 2026. For Semester 2 (July intake), apply by mid-June. Applications received after these dates lose automatic scholarship consideration.
Automatic merit ranking
Sydney's Admissions Office ranks all eligible applicants on academic results and issues scholarship offers alongside (or shortly after) the academic offer.
Accept your offer + scholarship
Your scholarship offer arrives in your applicant portal. Accept it together with your academic offer to lock it in. The scholarship applies to each year's fees automatically.
