RMIT Light Up Scholarship
The RMIT Light Up Scholarship is an automatic 20% tuition fee reduction for South Asian undergraduate students — including Sri Lankan citizens — commencing study at RMIT's Melbourne city campus. Over a 3-4 year degree this is worth roughly AUD 25,000 - 50,000 (LKR 5.3M - 10.5M), making it one of the most accessible Australian undergraduate awards in market. There is no separate application: students who meet the academic + nationality criteria are awarded automatically with the offer letter. RMIT is particularly strong in Design, Architecture, Engineering, IT, and Business — well-suited to A-Level / Edexcel / Cambridge graduates targeting career-ready degrees.

Sri Lankan or South Asian Citizen
Open to citizens of Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Bhutan applying as international fee-paying students. You must apply directly from your home country — not from a third-country institution.
Meet RMIT Academic Entry
You must receive an offer for an eligible RMIT undergraduate or postgraduate coursework programme. Most undergrad programmes require A-Level passes in 3 subjects (typically BBC or higher) or equivalent. Foundation pathway entries via RMIT Training are also eligible.
Eligible Programmes
Most RMIT undergraduate programmes qualify — Design, Architecture, Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Business, Communication, Aerospace. Some industry-funded or scholarship-restricted programmes are excluded; check the offer letter.
English Proficiency
Meet RMIT's standard English requirement — typically IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0. Sri Lankan applicants with English-medium A-Levels or O-Level English (Cambridge / Edexcel) Grade C+ can often submit an MOI / qualification waiver.
account_tree Application Process
Apply to RMIT undergrad
Submit your application via RMIT's online portal (rmit.edu.au/apply) or through an authorised RMIT representative in Sri Lanka. Include your A-Level / Edexcel / Cambridge / IB results, English evidence, and statement of purpose.
Automatic eligibility check
RMIT Admissions checks your nationality, programme, and academic results against the Light Up Scholarship criteria. There is no separate form — the award is applied automatically if you qualify.
Receive scholarship in offer letter
Eligible students receive an offer letter that explicitly states the Light Up Scholarship value and the reduced tuition fee. The discount is locked in for the duration of the degree provided you maintain enrolment.
Accept offer + pay reduced first instalment
Accept your offer via the RMIT applicant portal. Pay the first semester tuition (now 20% lower than the published international rate) — this triggers your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and Subclass 500 visa application.
