Sejong University International Student Scholarship

Sejong University is a private university in eastern Seoul with a strong reputation in hospitality and tourism management, business, and quantum/computer engineering. Its international-student scholarships work on the common Korean model: a first-semester entrance scholarship of 30%–100% off tuition, decided from your academic record on admission, followed by semester-by-semester reductions based on the GPA you maintain. For Sri Lankan students, Sejong is a realistic option — its Hospitality & Tourism college is internationally accredited and English-taught tracks accept IELTS or an English-medium degree, so Korean is not required for entry to those programmes. Be clear-eyed that this covers tuition only; Seoul living costs, the airfare, and the initial deposit are on you, and the top 100% band is competitive. On-campus and limited off-campus part-time work is allowed once you hold the D-2 visa.

Entry Academic Record

Your entrance-scholarship band is set from your prior results — A/Ls for undergraduate entry, a Bachelor's (and Master's) for graduate entry. Strong Sri Lankan results compete for the higher reduction tiers.

GPA to Retain

Continuing reductions require holding a minimum GPA each semester (typically around 3.0+/4.5). This is a merit-maintained scheme — falling below the line reduces the award.

Language Proficiency

English-taught programmes (including much of Hospitality & Tourism) accept IELTS ~5.5–6.5 or an English-medium degree; a Sri Lankan MOI letter can evidence English-medium study. Korean-taught programmes need TOPIK, usually level 3+.

account_tree Application Process

1

Submit the Sejong admission application

Apply through Sejong's international admissions portal for your intake with transcripts, certificates, a study plan, financial evidence, and IELTS/TOPIK results.

2

Entrance scholarship decided at offer

Admitted students are automatically assigned an entrance-scholarship band; your offer letter states the first-semester tuition reduction. No separate scholarship form for most tracks.

3

Maintain grades each semester

From the second semester the reduction is recalculated on GPA. Consistent performance keeps you in the higher bands.

4

Apply for the D-2 student visa

With your admission certificate and proof of the balance of tuition and living funds, apply for the D-2 visa via the Korean mission serving Sri Lanka.
