Rennes School of Business Talent Scholarship
Rennes School of Business is a triple-accredited French grande école in Brittany, teaching an unusually international cohort — the school markets itself on having no dominant nationality on campus, and its programmes are taught in English. Its main merit award is the Talent Scholarship, worth up to EUR 5,000 discounted from tuition, around LKR 1.73 million, and open to applicants with a strong academic record who can show clear academic and professional merit. A parallel award, the Unframed Scholarship, carries the same maximum value but rewards unusual life experience or remarkable extra-curricular achievement rather than grades — genuinely worth considering if your CV is stronger than your transcript. A third, the Bienvenue en France Scholarship, gives a smaller EUR 500 discount to applicants holding an Alliance Française certification at A1 or above, which is realistically achievable from Colombo and is effectively free money for anyone already learning French. Keep the arithmetic honest. Rennes SB tuition for international students runs at EUR 28,900 for the two-year MSc route, EUR 18,500 for direct entry into the second year full-time, EUR 16,500 for the alternance version, and EUR 15,000 to EUR 17,000 a year on the Master in Management. A EUR 5,000 discount against a EUR 28,900 programme is a real saving but leaves close to LKR 8.3 million to fund, before living costs in France. Two more points a Sri Lankan applicant should know: the school's country-specific scholarships cover India, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Colombia and the Netherlands, and there is no Sri Lanka-specific scheme, so the open merit awards are your route. And the Prodigy Finance route listed by the school is a genuine option for South Asian students who cannot post full funds up front, though the interest cost deserves careful scrutiny before you sign.

Strong Academic Record
The Talent Scholarship targets high-profile candidates with clear academic and professional merit who can demonstrate what they will bring to the programme. A Sri Lankan Second Upper or First Class with relevant work experience is a competitive starting point.
No Sri Lanka-Specific Scheme
Rennes SB lists country scholarships for India (Charpak), Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey, Colombia and the Netherlands. There is none for Sri Lanka, so the open Talent and Unframed awards, plus the France-wide Eiffel Excellence scholarship, are the realistic routes.
The Unframed Route Rewards a Different Profile
If your strength is unusual life experience, entrepreneurship, sport, community work or a non-linear career rather than a top transcript, apply for the Unframed Scholarship instead. It carries the same maximum value and is judged on different evidence.
French at A1 Is Worth EUR 500
The Bienvenue en France Scholarship requires an Alliance Française certification at A1 minimum. Alliance Française de Colombo runs exactly these levels, so this is a small award that a Sri Lankan applicant can plan for deliberately rather than hope for.
It Is a Discount, Not Funding
These awards reduce tuition; they do not pay a stipend or cover living costs. On the EUR 28,900 two-year MSc, a full EUR 5,000 award still leaves about LKR 8.3 million of tuition plus roughly EUR 800 to 1,000 a month of living costs in Rennes.
account_tree Application Process
Apply to a Rennes SB master's programme
Apply directly through the school's online application with transcripts, CV, essays and English evidence. Programmes are taught in English; a GMAT or GRE is required or recommended on some routes, so check your specific MSc page.
Submit the scholarship application by the June cut-off
Merit scholarship applications have run to a 30 June deadline for the following academic year. Apply for admission early enough that you have an offer or a live application before that date.
Choose the right award for your profile
Talent for academic and professional merit, Unframed for exceptional life experience, Bienvenue en France if you hold Alliance Française certification. Read the terms on whether they can be combined before assuming you can hold more than one.
Register with Campus France Sri Lanka
Sri Lankan applicants to French institutions normally go through the Études en France procedure run by Campus France Sri Lanka in Colombo, including an interview, before a visa appointment is released. Start this in parallel with your school application, not after it — the platform has its own calendar.
Apply for your long-stay student visa
Once Campus France validates your file, apply for the VLS-TS student visa at the French consular service in Colombo with your acceptance letter, scholarship confirmation, proof of accommodation and proof of funds. Validate the residence permit online within three months of arrival in France.
Why Rennes School of Business?
Rennes SB holds the triple accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA) that only a small minority of business schools worldwide carry, and it teaches its master's portfolio entirely in English with a faculty and student body drawn from across the world. Rennes is a mid-sized university city in Brittany, about 90 minutes from Paris by high-speed train, with living costs well below the capital's. France permits non-EU master's graduates to apply for a temporary residence permit to seek work after graduating, and Rennes SB's MSc portfolio in finance, supply chain, data and international management is oriented towards that path.
