Kaplan Singapore Scholarships (UCD Kaplan & KHEA Merit Awards)

Kaplan Higher Education Academy (KHEA) is one of Singapore's largest private education institutions, delivering degrees awarded by partner universities including University College Dublin, Murdoch, Northumbria and Royal Holloway. It runs several scholarship lines, and it matters a great deal which one you are actually eligible for. The UCD Kaplan (Singapore) Scholarship is worth SGD 10,000 (about LKR 2.4M), with around 30 awards, and is open to diploma or Bachelor's graduates from any country except China — so a Sri Lankan applicant is squarely in scope. The KHEA Scholarship Scheme rewards the top three performers in a graduating cohort with SGD 10,000, SGD 7,500 and SGD 5,000 respectively, but it requires you to already be a Kaplan diploma or degree graduate progressing to a full-time Kaplan Bachelor's or Master's — so it is a second-stage award, not an entry ticket. The Kaplan Merit Scholarship covers 50% of programme fees for Business English, Foundation and full-time diploma programmes. Note that the David Tan Scholarship, which is often listed alongside these, is restricted to students from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam — Sri Lankan students cannot win it. Confirm current award values and closing dates directly with Kaplan Singapore or your in-country representative before you count on a figure.

Sri Lankans Are Eligible for the UCD Kaplan Award

The UCD Kaplan (Singapore) Scholarship is open to diploma or Bachelor's graduates from non-China countries who have demonstrated academic excellence. Sri Lankan applicants qualify on nationality. The separate David Tan Scholarship is restricted to China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam — do not apply for it.

The KHEA Scheme Is for Continuing Students

It requires a Kaplan diploma or degree with over 90% attendance, all modules passed at first attempt, and an average of at least 85% (diploma) or 80% (degree), then immediate enrolment in a full-time Kaplan Bachelor's or Master's. It is not available to a first-time applicant from Sri Lanka.

Short Essay Required for the Merit Award

The Kaplan Merit Scholarship asks for an essay of no more than 300 words submitted with your application through your in-country manager or authorised representative — so route it through a Kaplan-recognised channel, not a cold email.

Partial Support, Not a Full Ride

Even the largest award covers a fraction of the cost of studying and living in Singapore. Singapore is among Asia's most expensive cities for accommodation. Plan the remaining tuition plus living costs in LKR before committing.

account_tree Application Process

1

Choose your Kaplan programme and partner award

Decide which partner university's degree you want — the UCD Kaplan scholarship applies specifically to University College Dublin programmes delivered at Kaplan Singapore. The award you are eligible for follows from that choice.

2

Apply for admission with full transcripts

Submit your Sri Lankan diploma or degree transcripts and English evidence. Academic excellence in your previous qualification is the primary selection criterion for the UCD Kaplan award.

3

Submit the scholarship application alongside admission

Kaplan takes scholarship applications through its in-country managers and authorised representatives. Include the essay where required. Awards are limited in number, so early submission inside the intake window matters.

4

Accept and apply for your Student's Pass

Once you have an offer and know your net fee, apply for the Singapore Student's Pass through ICA's SOLAR system. Kaplan initiates this. Budget for the pass, medical check, insurance and a Singapore rental deposit separately.

Why Kaplan Singapore?

Kaplan Higher Education Academy is one of Singapore's biggest private institutions and delivers degrees awarded by established UK, Irish and Australian universities on a central Singapore campus. For Sri Lankan students the appeal is a recognised Western degree at a shorter duration and lower total cost than studying in the awarding country itself, in an English-speaking city four hours from Colombo. The trade-off is that these are partner-awarded degrees at a private institution, not degrees from Singapore's autonomous public universities — check how your target employer or postgraduate destination treats them before you commit.
