Inholland Knowledge Grant
The Inholland Knowledge Grant is a multi-year allowance rather than a one-off scholarship, which makes it unusually useful for planning a whole degree rather than just the first year. It pays EUR 2,500 in year one, then EUR 1,000 in each of years two and three, up to a maximum of EUR 4,500 over the course of your studies. Inholland is a large Dutch university of applied sciences with campuses across the Randstad — Amsterdam, Diemen, Haarlem, Rotterdam, The Hague, Alkmaar and Delft — and its English-taught bachelor's include Aeronautical Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Data Science, Business Innovation, Creative Business, Electronic Music, Information Technology and Tourism Management. The catch is progression: you must complete 60 ECTS per year, exemptions not counted, and re-enrol for the following year to keep receiving the allowance. Miss a year's credits and the payment stops. For a Sri Lankan school-leaver weighing a four-year Dutch bachelor's, the honest reading is that this reduces the total bill by a meaningful but not transformative amount, and that year four carries no allowance at all. Budget the full institutional fee for that final year.

info How this award actually works
Who awards it
Inholland University of Applied Sciences — not Lanka Scholar. We are not the awarding body and cannot grant, reserve or guarantee this award.
How you are considered
Through your admission application. Awards like this are usually assessed automatically from the application you already submit — there is typically no separate scholarship form to fill in.
What it covers
EUR 4,500 Total Across Three Years (EUR 2,500 + EUR 1,000 + EUR 1,000). This is a reduction in tuition, not a full ride. You still fund the remainder, plus living costs and the balance your visa requires you to show.
Where we come in
We make the admission application strong enough to be competitive — course choice, documents, references and deadlines. The funder makes the decision.
fact_check Eligibility Criteria
Not an EEA, Surinam or Swiss National
The grant is for students who are not nationals of the EEA, Surinam or Switzerland and who pay institutional tuition fees. Sri Lankan citizens are eligible on nationality.
Full-Time Bachelor's Student
You must be enrolled full-time in an Inholland bachelor's programme, and enrolled at Inholland for the first time. Part-time and transfer arrangements fall outside the scheme.
60 ECTS Per Year to Keep It
Payment in each subsequent year depends on completing 60 ECTS in the prior year, with exemptions not counted towards that total. This is a stricter bar than the Dutch residence permit's own progress rule.
You Must Re-Enrol
The allowance continues only if you re-enrol for the following academic year. It runs for a maximum of three years — year four attracts no allowance.
English Proficiency
Inholland's English-taught bachelor's set programme-specific English requirements, typically around IELTS 6.0. Sri Lankan applicants from English-medium schooling should ask admissions in writing whether an MOI letter is accepted for their programme.

Apply for admission through Studielink and Inholland
Register your programme in Studielink and complete Inholland's application with A/L or diploma transcripts, passport copy and English evidence.
Apply for the Knowledge Grant
Submit the Knowledge Grant application by the published deadline for your intake. Confirm the current year's date with Inholland — the page states 31 August, but check it against your own start date.
Receive year one and keep earning credits
The EUR 2,500 first-year allowance is followed by EUR 1,000 in each of years two and three, conditional on 60 ECTS earned and re-enrolment.
Sort out the residence permit and living costs
Inholland sponsors your Dutch student residence permit. The IND's living-cost requirement is separate from the grant, so build proof of funds for the full year into your bank statements.
Why Inholland University of Applied Sciences?
Inholland teaches applied bachelor's degrees across seven campuses in the Randstad, including aeronautical engineering at Delft and creative business in Haarlem and Rotterdam. The Knowledge Grant is one of the few Dutch awards that keeps paying past the first year, which changes the arithmetic of a three-year degree.

Looking for a scholarship because of the cost?
Then start here instead. Scholarships are competitive, usually partial, and decided by someone else — they are the least reliable way to make studying abroad affordable. Your destination and course choice move the number far more, and both are entirely within your control.
