Hanyang International Scholarship

Hanyang University awards merit-based tuition reductions of 30% to 100% to international undergraduate and graduate applicants — covering the full tuition for top-tier awardees (approximately KRW 7-9M per semester = LKR 1.6-2M per semester). Hanyang is one of Korea's premier private research universities, particularly renowned for engineering (#1 in Korea for industry partnership), business, and applied sciences. Hanyang has two campuses — the main Seoul campus and the Ansan ERICA campus. Sri Lankan applicants are automatically considered when they apply to Hanyang's undergraduate or graduate programmes; there is no separate scholarship form. The Hanyang International Summer School also offers shorter-term study options with separate awards.

Scholarship is renewable each semester subject to maintaining a B+/3.0+ GPA (Hanyang uses a 4.5 scale, so 3.0 = approximately upper-second). Top-tier (100%) renewal typically requires 3.5+/4.5.

Choose programme + apply

Apply to Hanyang via the Office of International Admissions online portal. Spring intake deadline late October; Fall intake mid-May. Both undergraduate and graduate programmes use the same application portal but different forms.

Submit documents

Required: application form, transcripts, statement of purpose, two recommendations, financial certificate (USD 15-20k for one year), passport copy, English/Korean test scores. Hanyang accepts A/L results directly for UG.

Automatic scholarship review

Hanyang admissions automatically reviews applications for both admission and scholarship tier simultaneously. There is no separate scholarship form, but a strong personal statement helps reach the higher tiers.

Acceptance + Korean visa

Hanyang's offer letter specifies the scholarship tier. Use it plus the Certificate of Admission to apply for the D-2 Student Visa at the Embassy of Korea in Colombo. Hanyang's International Office provides housing and arrival support.
