Endeavour Scholarship Scheme

The Endeavour Scholarship Scheme is a Maltese government postgraduate funding programme co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF) and administered by Malta's Ministry for Education. It supports Master's (Group A) and doctoral (Group B) study with maintenance grants and a contribution toward fees. Importantly, Endeavour is primarily designed for students who are resident in Malta and meet ESF eligibility rules, and most calls require applicants to be following a course at a Maltese higher-education institution or, for some streams, abroad while ordinarily resident in Malta. For Sri Lankan applicants this is best treated as a scheme to investigate once you are studying in Malta or have a residency basis — it is not an open-to-all international scholarship like a direct university bursary. Residency-Based Eligibility

Endeavour calls are framed around ESF eligibility — applicants are generally expected to be resident in Malta or following accredited study linked to Malta. Confirm your eligibility basis first

Before anything else, check the current Endeavour open call to confirm whether your situation (residency, course location) qualifies. This scheme is not a general international award — eligibility is the first gate.

Secure admission to an accredited course

Obtain or hold an offer for an eligible Master's or doctoral programme at MQF Level 7/8, as required by the relevant Group (A or B).

Submit the Endeavour application

Apply through the Maltese Ministry for Education's Endeavour portal during the open call, attaching transcripts, your offer/enrolment proof, CV, and the documents listed in the call.

Assessment and award agreement

Successful applicants sign a grant agreement setting out maintenance, fee contribution, instalments, and obligations. Disbursement and any return/work conditions follow the agreement terms.
