The Concordia Presidential Scholarship is the headline tier of Concordia University's entrance awards programme — granting CAD 10,000 to CAD 25,000 (LKR 2.4M to LKR 5.9M) to incoming first-year undergraduate students with exceptional academic records. Awards are renewable across the duration of the undergraduate programme subject to maintaining a strong GPA. Concordia operates two campuses in central Montreal and is particularly strong in business (John Molson), engineering, computer science, communications, and fine arts. Sri Lankan students applying for any undergraduate programme at Concordia are automatically considered — there is no separate scholarship application.

First-Year Undergraduate Applicant
You must be applying as a first-year undergraduate (not a transfer or graduate student) for Fall 2027 entry. Open to international applicants from all countries. Concordia's main faculties — JMSB, Engineering, Arts & Sciences, Fine Arts — are all included.
Strong Academic Profile
Awards are based on academic merit. Top-tier Presidential Scholarships (CAD 25,000) typically require 3 As at A/L, IB 40+/45, or equivalent. Mid-tier awards (CAD 10,000-15,000) require strong but not top-decile academic records.
Apply by 1 March
To be considered for scholarship awards, your complete Concordia application (including all transcripts and supporting documents) must be received by 1 March 2027. Applications after this date may still be considered for admission but typically miss scholarship eligibility.
English Proficiency
International students whose first language is not English must demonstrate proficiency — typically IELTS 6.5 overall (no band below 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 90+. Sri Lankan candidates with English-medium education may qualify for an IELTS waiver under Concordia's policy.

Why Concordia?
Concordia is one of Montreal's two major English-language universities (alongside McGill), with ~50,000 students across business, engineering, arts, science, and fine arts. The John Molson School of Business is highly regarded, particularly for finance and marketing. Concordia has a much higher international intake than McGill (around 25% international), and its scholarship awards are notably more accessible than McGill's entrance awards.
