Bocconi International Award

The Bocconi International Award is the headline merit scholarship at Bocconi University, Italy's top-ranked private business and economics university and one of Europe's most respected institutions. The award provides EUR 12,000/year for Bachelor's students and EUR 16,000/year for Master's students (LKR 4.1M-5.5M/year), renewable across the duration of the programme. Bocconi tuition is around EUR 16,000-19,000/year, so the Master's-tier scholarship covers nearly the full tuition cost. Bocconi is consistently ranked top 10 in Europe for business and economics; its Master in International Management is ranked #5 globally (Financial Times). Sri Lankan applicants with strong A/L economics/maths results (for Bachelor's) or first-class economics/finance/management backgrounds (for Master's) are well-positioned.

You must be applying to or admitted to an eligible Bocconi programme. Eligible: Bachelor's (Economics, Management, International Economics & Business, etc.), Master of Science (all programmes), LL.M. Specialised Master's. MBA candidates apply via separate Bocconi MBA scholarships.

English Proficiency

All Bocconi international programmes are taught in English. Required: IELTS 6.5+ (some programmes 7.0+), TOEFL iBT 88+ (some programmes 100+). Sri Lankan applicants with English-medium degrees may qualify for the MOI-letter waiver — confirm with Bocconi.

Submit your Bocconi programme application via the online portal. Bocconi Bachelor's applications open August 2026; Master's applications open in September. Application fee EUR 70. Indicate intent to apply for the International Award in the application.

Submit the International Award application

Complete the separate scholarship application via the Bocconi scholarship portal. Required: scholarship motivation letter (500 words), socio-economic information (for need-based component), additional references. Bachelor's deadline 11 March 2027; Master's deadline 25 February 2027.

Selection by scholarship committee

Bocconi's International Award Selection Committee reviews applications and makes awards based on a holistic profile review (academic record, motivation, financial situation, country diversity considerations). Final awards confirmed by May.

Acceptance + Italian visa

Successful applicants accept the offer and scholarship via the Bocconi portal. Use the offer + scholarship + financial documents to apply for the Italian student visa via the Italian Embassy in New Delhi (Sri Lankan applicants apply via Delhi consular district).
