MSc Food Technology
Wageningen University & Research
Course Overview
Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is consistently ranked #1 globally for Agriculture & Forestry by QS (>10 years running), and its MSc Food Technology is the world's best-known specialised food science master's. The two-year programme covers food chemistry, microbiology, processing, product design, sensory science, sustainability, and food safety — with eight specialisations: Dairy Science, Food Biotechnology, Food Innovation & Management, Food Quality Management, Ingredient Functionality, Product Design, Sensory Science, and Sustainable Food Process Engineering.
Sri Lankan applicants from food science / agriculture / chemistry backgrounds (Peradeniya, Sabaragamuwa, Wayamba) use WUR as a route into global food R&D — Wageningen's industry partners (Unilever R&D Vlaardingen, FrieslandCampina, Heineken R&D, Nestlé, Cargill, DSM, Mars, Mondelez) maintain direct talent pipelines from the campus. The compact Wageningen town (90 minutes east of Amsterdam) is a dedicated food + agri research cluster: along with WUR you find the Netherlands Plant Biotechnology Centre, NIZO Food Research, and 100+ agri-food startups.
