Course Overview
LUISS's MSc in Data Science and Management is a two-year, English-taught programme that pairs serious data-science methodology — statistical learning, deep learning, NLP, MLOps, big-data infrastructure — with the strategic management and ethics-of-AI framing that LUISS is known for. Faculty includes practitioners from Deloitte Italy, Accenture, Reply, ENEL X, and the Italian Statistical Institute (ISTAT).
Sri Lankan applicants with a BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Management (Moratuwa, Colombo, Peradeniya, SLIIT, NSBM, NIBM, IIT, ICBT) are well-placed. LUISS's career office in Rome plumbs into UniCredit's data-science arm, Generali, Eni, Enel, and the Italian fintech scene, plus pan-European roles via Bain Italy, McKinsey Italy, and Deloitte. A semester abroad at Imperial College, BSE Barcelona, or Cornell Tech is available.

Academic
- check_circle Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Management, or related quantitative field — Sri Lankan SLQF Level 6 with GPA equivalent to 2nd-Upper or better.
- check_circle Solid grounding in linear algebra, calculus, statistics, and programming (Python or R preferred). Transcripts are reviewed for quantitative content.
- check_circle GRE/GMAT optional but recommended for borderline applicants.
- check_circle Motivational essay, CV, and 2 academic references.
English Proficiency
- check_circle IELTS Academic: 6.5 Overall (min 5.5 in each section).
- check_circle TOEFL iBT: 88 Overall.
- check_circle Cambridge C1 Advanced or higher.
- check_circle Waived if your Bachelor's was taught entirely in English at a recognised institution.

Career Outcomes & PR
LUISS Data Science graduates are eligible for Italy's 12-month post-study residence permit and EU Blue Card route. Typical first roles: data scientist or ML engineer at UniCredit, Intesa Sanpaolo, Generali, Eni, Enel, Bain Italy, McKinsey Italy, Deloitte, Accenture, and increasingly at fintechs and AI startups across Milan and Rome. Sri Lankan returnees take senior data-science positions at WSO2, IFS R&D, Virtusa, Sysco LABS, Dialog Axiata, HSBC SL, John Keells, and the Big Four Colombo data-analytics practices.
