MSc Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering

The University of Pisa's Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering (class LM-32) trains engineers to design systems that manage very large volumes of data and to build intelligent systems on top of them. All compulsory courses are taught in English, with optional courses in English or Italian, so Italian is not required to graduate. The curriculum covers optimisation and game theory, distributed and non-relational databases, cloud computing, machine learning and deep learning, data mining and process mining, and symbolic and evolutionary AI, delivered through lectures and hands-on workshops built around real big-data applications.

Pisa is one of Italy's oldest and most respected universities and a historic centre of Italian computing: the country's first computer was built here. The programme reports 100% employment within a year of graduation, with an average job search of under two months. For Sri Lankan computer-engineering and computer-science graduates from Moratuwa, Peradeniya, Colombo, SLIIT, IIT or NSBM, it offers a strong engineering master's at an Italian public-university fee capped at €2,900 a year (plus €156 regional tax and stamp duty), with reductions available based on family income. Italy's 12-month 'attesa occupazione' permit lets graduates stay on to look for work.
