Course Overview

The University of Milan's MSc Data Science for Economics and Health (DSEH) is a two-year, 120-ECTS master's taught entirely in English. It replaced the university's earlier Data Science for Economics programme and is run by the Department of Computer Science 'Giovanni degli Antoni' together with the Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods. The programme joins technical data-science training (programming, statistical learning and machine learning) with the economic and health contexts where that analysis is used, such as health-system performance, public policy and markets. It includes internship and study-abroad opportunities and a double-degree option.

The University of Milan (La Statale) is Italy's largest research university and the only Italian member of the League of European Research Universities. For Sri Lankan applicants its biggest draw is cost: students whose family income is abroad pay a fixed fee based on citizenship, and Sri Lanka is in the university's lowest fee group, so tuition is only a few hundred euros a year. Graduates in computer science, statistics, economics or health sciences from Colombo, Moratuwa, Peradeniya, Sri Jayewardenepura, SLIIT or NSBM are well matched. Italy's 12-month 'attesa occupazione' permit lets graduates stay on to look for work in Milan's finance, consulting and life-sciences sectors.
