Master's Programme in Business and Management
Uppsala University
Course Overview
Uppsala University, founded in 1477, is the oldest university in the Nordic countries and a consistent top-150 institution worldwide. Its two-year, English-taught Master's Programme in Business and Management, delivered by the Department of Business Studies, lets students build depth in fields such as international business, marketing, organisation, and accounting/finance while developing strong research and analytical skills.
The programme is built around Sweden's collaborative, discussion-led teaching style, with close contact between students and faculty, project work with companies, and a substantial master's thesis. Uppsala's research strength in international business and organisation studies — and Sweden's standing as a hub for innovation, sustainability, and globally minded companies (from IKEA and Ericsson to a deep start-up scene) — give the degree a distinctive international and sustainability lens.
For Sri Lankan graduates, Sweden offers a high-quality, English-taught master's in a safe, innovation-driven economy with strong work-life balance. After graduation, students can apply for a 12-month residence permit to look for work or start a business, and a Swedish master's is well regarded across the EU. Living costs are moderate by Nordic standards in Uppsala, a classic, walkable student city just outside Stockholm.

Career Outcomes & PR
Uppsala business graduates move into international management, marketing, consulting, finance, and roles in Sweden's innovation and sustainability-focused companies and start-ups — as well as graduate-management and research pathways. Sweden's 12-month post-study residence permit lets graduates stay to find work or launch a business, and an EU master's in business travels well across Europe and back to Sri Lanka's corporate sector.
