Course Overview
Bocconi's BSc in Economics, Management and Computer Science (BEMACS) is the youngest of the SDA Bocconi-developed Bachelor's tracks and consistently ranked top-3 in Europe for undergraduate Economics-CS hybrid programmes (FT, QS by Subject). The 3-year programme is rigorously quantitative — students take core modules in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, Programming and Algorithms, Machine Learning, Database Systems, and Game Theory, plus electives that bridge into financial econometrics, behavioural economics, and computer science research. The programme was designed for graduates targeting Tier-1 quantitative finance roles (hedge funds, prop trading, algorithmic asset management), data science consulting, and direct-to-MIT/Stanford PhD trajectories.
Sri Lankan applicants choose BEMACS over LSE / Warwick / UCL Economics because tuition at €18,000/year is roughly half UK equivalents, the BEMACS curriculum is significantly more quantitative than UK Economics Bachelor's (closer in spirit to MIT's Course 14 or NYU Stern's Mathematics-in-Finance), and Milan's financial centre location plus EU labour-market access make career outcomes exceptional. The Bocconi-Penn Joint Bachelor's option (with the Wharton School) and direct fast-track to Bocconi's MSc Finance / MSc Data Science add further value. Italy's 12-month Permesso di Soggiorno per Attesa Occupazione (post-study job search visa) plus EU graduate employment pathways make Bocconi-to-EU residence achievable. - check_circle Sri Lankan Cambridge / Edexcel A-Levels: A*A*A or A*AA including Mathematics at A* and at least one of Further Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
- check_circle Sri Lankan GCE A/L: A, A, A with Combined Mathematics at A and Physics at A.
- check_circle IB Diploma: 38-42 points overall with HL Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches) at 6 or 7.
- check_circle Bocconi Test (the bocconi.it test — free, online, 60 minutes, covers quantitative reasoning, English, logic) — required for all applicants. SAT 1450+ and GMAT 700+ are also accepted but the Bocconi Test is the simpler pathway for Sri Lankan applicants.
