SNU Global Graduate Fellowship
Seoul National University's Global Graduate Fellowship (SNU GGF) is a full-tuition-plus-stipend award for outstanding international Master's students. Awards typically include a full tuition waiver and a monthly living stipend of KRW 700,000 (approximately USD 525) for the standard duration of the Master's. SNU is consistently South Korea's #1 university and one of Asia's top institutions. Sri Lankan applicants for Korean Studies, East Asian Studies, engineering, and business are particularly well-served by SNU; Korean language ability is helpful but not required for most English-taught Master's tracks.

Application to an Eligible SNU Master's
Open to international applicants for SNU Master's programmes. Some programmes (humanities, social sciences) require Korean language proficiency; engineering, business, and international studies programmes increasingly run in English.
International Student Status
You and both your parents must hold non-Korean nationality. Sri Lankan citizens applying from Sri Lanka are eligible. Korean citizens, dual citizens, and ethnic Koreans on F-visas are typically not eligible.
Strong Bachelor's + Research Interest
A Bachelor's degree with strong academic results (typically a first-class or upper second-class honours). Demonstrated research interest — through an undergraduate thesis, conference papers, or relevant work — strengthens the application.
English or Korean Proficiency
For English-taught programmes: TOEFL iBT 80+ or IELTS 6.0+. For Korean-taught programmes: TOPIK Level 3 minimum (Level 4-5 strongly preferred). Programme listing specifies the required language.

Identify the right SNU programme + language
Check whether your target Master's runs in English or Korean. Engineering, business, international studies, and many science programmes have English tracks; humanities and most social sciences require Korean.
Apply to SNU + indicate fellowship interest
Submit the SNU Master's application via the online admissions portal during the relevant intake window. The application includes a section to indicate SNU Global Graduate Fellowship interest — no separate form is required.
Department + central review
Applications are first reviewed by the academic department for admission decisions; admitted candidates are then ranked by the Office of International Affairs for the SNU GGF allocation.
Outcome + visa
Successful applicants receive a fellowship letter alongside the admission offer. Accept the offer and apply for the D-2 student visa at the Korean embassy in Colombo. Tuition and stipend start in the first semester (March or September).
