RMIT International Excellence Scholarship
The RMIT International Excellence Scholarship is RMIT University's flagship merit award for incoming international postgraduate students — a tuition discount of 20%, 30%, or 50% across the full duration of the Master's programme. RMIT is a top-tier Australian technical university located in central Melbourne, particularly strong in design, engineering, IT, business, and the built environment. Sri Lankan students applying for any eligible Master's by coursework programme are automatically considered. The 50% tier (saving AUD 20,000-25,000 over a 2-year Master's) is reserved for the strongest applicants — typically first-class graduates with substantial work experience or research output.

Offer for RMIT Postgraduate Coursework
You must hold an offer for an eligible postgraduate coursework programme at RMIT (Master's by coursework, Graduate Diploma, or Graduate Certificate). Higher Degree by Research candidates (PhD / MRes) apply separately for RMIT HDR scholarships.
International Fee Status
Open to international students paying overseas fees. Sri Lankan citizens applying from Sri Lanka qualify. Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens apply via separate RMIT domestic awards.
Strong Academic Profile
Award tier depends on academic merit. Top tier (50%) typically requires a first-class Bachelor's (or international equivalent — strong second-upper from a recognised Sri Lankan university with relevant work experience). Mid-tier (20-30%) for solid second-upper profiles.
English Proficiency
Meet RMIT's standard English requirement — typically IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0 for most Master's programmes. Some programmes require IELTS 7.0 (e.g. Master of Teaching). Sri Lankan applicants with English-medium degrees may qualify for an MOI-letter-based waiver.

Apply to RMIT
Submit your RMIT postgraduate application via the RMIT online portal or through an authorised RMIT agent. There is no separate scholarship application form.
Automatic merit consideration
All eligible international offer holders are automatically assessed for the International Excellence Scholarship. RMIT's admissions team determines the award tier based on academic record translated to RMIT's grading scale.
Award noted in offer letter
If awarded, the scholarship tier (20%, 30%, or 50%) is itemised in your RMIT offer letter. The discount is applied to your tuition invoice each semester for the duration of the Master's programme.
Accept + Australian student visa
Accept your offer and pay the reduced deposit. RMIT issues the eCoE, which you use to apply for the Subclass 500 Student Visa at the High Commission Colombo via ImmiAccount.
Why RMIT?
