NTU ASEAN Graduate Fellowship

The NTU ASEAN Graduate Fellowship is funded by Nanyang Technological University for outstanding ASEAN-citizen PhD applicants (excluding Singapore citizens). It covers full tuition fees and a monthly research stipend of around S$3,000 for 4 years, with conference and book allowances. IMPORTANT for Sri Lankan applicants: Sri Lanka is NOT an ASEAN member state, so this specific scheme is closed to Sri Lankan-only passport holders. We list it for ASEAN dual-citizens; Sri Lankan applicants should instead apply for the NTU Research Scholarship — open to all international PhD candidates with a confirmed supervisor at NTU.

1

Confirm ASEAN citizenship

Verify ASEAN passport / citizenship before applying. Sri Lankan-only nationals are NOT eligible — speak with Lanka Scholar about the open NTU Research Scholarship instead.

2

Find a supervisor + apply to NTU PhD

Email NTU researchers to confirm supervision support. Then submit your NTU PhD application via the graduate admission portal by 15 January 2026 — transcripts, references, research proposal, supervisor support email, and English test.

3

Indicate ASEAN Graduate Fellowship

Tick the ASEAN Graduate Fellowship box on the PhD application's funding section. There is no separate fellowship form — your PhD application doubles as the funding application.

4

Selection + offer

The school's graduate committee shortlists candidates for the fellowship based on academic merit and supervisor support. Decisions are typically released 3-4 months after the deadline.
