NTU ASEAN Graduate Fellowship
The NTU ASEAN Graduate Fellowship is funded by Nanyang Technological University for outstanding ASEAN-citizen PhD applicants (excluding Singapore citizens). It covers full tuition fees and a monthly research stipend of around S$3,000 for 4 years, with conference and book allowances. IMPORTANT for Sri Lankan applicants: Sri Lanka is NOT an ASEAN member state, so this specific scheme is closed to Sri Lankan-only passport holders. We list it for ASEAN dual-citizens; Sri Lankan applicants should instead apply for the NTU Research Scholarship — open to all international PhD candidates with a confirmed supervisor at NTU.

ASEAN Citizen (non-Singaporean)
Open ONLY to citizens of ASEAN member states. Sri Lanka is not part of ASEAN — Sri Lankan-only passport holders should apply for the NTU Research Scholarship (open to all internationals).
Strong Research Master's
First-class or distinction-level Master's degree in a relevant discipline with a substantial research component. Direct entry from a strong Bachelor's is occasionally accepted for outstanding candidates.
Confirmed NTU Supervisor
Identify and contact a potential NTU supervisor before applying. The supervisor's written support is part of the PhD admission application — NTU will not assign one for you.
Full-Time PhD Commitment
Must enrol full-time and complete the PhD within 4 years of commencement. Part-time enrolment, employment outside the supervisor's research group, or breaks in candidature can affect the fellowship.
