MODUL University Vienna Excellence Scholarship
MODUL University Vienna is a private, English-taught Austrian university specialising in tourism and hospitality management, business, international management, and public governance. It offers tiered Excellence Scholarships to outstanding international undergraduates — ranging from a 25% tuition reduction up to, in exceptional cases, a full 100% waiver — making it one of the more genuinely accessible private-university awards in Austria for high-achieving Sri Lankan students. Because all teaching is in English, applicants from an English-medium schooling background avoid the German-language barrier of Austria's public universities. The award level depends on your academic record, so strong A-Level / equivalent results matter directly. Even with a partial award the private tuition is significant, so plan your funding realistically; we help you model the LKR net cost first.

info How this award actually works
Who awards it
MODUL University Vienna — not Lanka Scholar. We are not the awarding body and cannot grant, reserve or guarantee this award.
How you are considered
Through your admission application. Awards like this are usually assessed automatically from the application you already submit — there is typically no separate scholarship form to fill in.
What it covers
25%-100% Tuition Reduction (Merit). This is a reduction in tuition, not a full ride. You still fund the remainder, plus living costs and the balance your visa requires you to show.
Where we come in
We make the admission application strong enough to be competitive — course choice, documents, references and deadlines. The funder makes the decision.
fact_check Eligibility Criteria
Admission to a MODUL Bachelor
You must apply to and be admitted to an English-taught Bachelor at MODUL University Vienna for autumn 2026 entry. Sri Lankan applicants need a completed secondary qualification (A-Levels or equivalent) with strong grades.
Tiered by Academic Merit
The scholarship percentage is determined by your academic record and application strength. Top-tier results can unlock the largest reductions, so the strongest A-Level / IB profiles benefit most. Applying in an earlier admission round can improve award levels.
Honest Cost Note
MODUL is a private, fee-charging university. A 100% waiver is exceptional — most awards are partial. Even with a strong scholarship, budget realistically for any remaining tuition plus Vienna living costs. We help you model the real LKR figure before you commit.
English Proficiency
All teaching is in English; you'll need IELTS 6.5+ or equivalent. Sri Lankan applicants from an English-medium schooling background usually qualify via MOI waiver where MODUL accepts it.
account_tree Application Process

Excellence Scholarship assessment
The admissions committee evaluates your academic record and assigns a scholarship tier. Some applicants may submit a short scholarship statement or have an interview.
Receive your award offer
Your offer letter states the tuition-reduction percentage. Review the net cost carefully before accepting.
Enrol and apply for an Austrian student visa
Accept your place, then apply for the Austrian student residence permit / visa via the embassy process. MODUL provides the enrolment and visa-support documentation.

Looking for a scholarship because of the cost?
Then start here instead. Scholarships are competitive, usually partial, and decided by someone else — they are the least reliable way to make studying abroad affordable. Your destination and course choice move the number far more, and both are entirely within your control.
