MCAST International STEM Bursary

The Malta College of Arts, Science & Technology (MCAST) is Malta's national vocational and applied higher-education college, delivering practical, industry-linked Bachelor's degrees and higher diplomas in engineering, computing, applied science, and technology. Alongside its general international bursaries, MCAST offers reductions targeted at strong international students entering its STEM-aligned programmes — a hands-on, English-medium pathway into Malta's growing tech and engineering sectors. For Sri Lankan students who want an applied, employment-focused EU qualification rather than a traditional academic degree, MCAST is an affordable, accessible option in an English-speaking Mediterranean country. Programme structures, the exact bursary value, and what counts as a STEM-eligible course change between intakes, so confirm the current award, eligibility, accreditation, and progression options with MCAST's international office before committing.

How you are considered

Through your admission application. Awards like this are usually assessed automatically from the application you already submit — there is typically no separate scholarship form to fill in.

payments

What it covers

Partial tuition reduction for international students on applied STEM degrees and diplomas. This is a reduction in tuition, not a full ride. You still fund the remainder, plus living costs and the balance your visa requires you to show.

handshake

Where we come in

We make the admission application strong enough to be competitive — course choice, documents, references and deadlines. The funder makes the decision.

fact_check Eligibility Criteria

public

International Applicant

Open to international students, including Sri Lankan citizens with recognised qualifications, applying to eligible MCAST programmes.

engineering

STEM-Aligned Programme

The reduction targets engineering, computing, applied science, and technology pathways. Confirm your specific course qualifies before relying on the bursary.

workspace_premium

Academic Merit

Reductions are merit-assessed. A solid record in maths or science subjects from a recognised Sri Lankan institution strengthens both admission and the award.

translate

English Proficiency

Teaching is in English; typical requirements are around IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Sri Lankan applicants with an English-medium qualification may qualify for a waiver where MCAST accepts it.

account_tree Application Process

Apply to MCAST

Submit your application for an eligible STEM programme with transcripts, certificates, CV, and English evidence.

Confirm bursary eligibility

Check with the international office that your programme is STEM-eligible for the bursary and what value applies for your intake.

Merit assessment and offer

MCAST reviews your profile for admission and the bursary; the reduction is normally stated in your offer letter.

Apply for the Maltese student visa

With your offer and fee confirmation, apply for the Maltese student residence permit, showing proof of funds for living costs and remaining tuition.

About MCAST

Looking for a scholarship because of the cost?

Then start here instead. Scholarships are competitive, usually partial, and decided by someone else — they are the least reliable way to make studying abroad affordable. Your destination and course choice move the number far more, and both are entirely within your control.
