Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand International Student Scholarship

Culinary arts and hospitality are a well-trodden route for Sri Lankan students, and Le Cordon Bleu's Wellington campus is one of the few places that combines the brand's classical French training with an accredited New Zealand degree. The Bachelor of Culinary Arts and Business scholarship for international students is worth a 15% discount over the last two years of study, and it is aimed at students who want to move beyond the kitchen into restaurant management and business ownership. All international students are welcome to apply, so Sri Lankan applicants qualify on nationality without qualification. The conditions are clear and worth reading before you build a plan around the money. You must be over 17 at course commencement. Current or past Le Cordon Bleu New Zealand students are not eligible — this is for new entrants only. You need Academic IELTS 6.0 with no sub-score under 5.5, or an accepted equivalent, and you must already meet the standard for New Zealand university degree entry. Most importantly, the discount only starts from the second year and is conditional: to be eligible in year two you must maintain an 80% score average throughout your first year. That means you fund year one at the full rate and must perform strongly to unlock the reduction. Applications require a CV and a statement of purpose, sent with the application forms to enrol@cordonbleu.edu, and must be submitted at least two months before the course start date. The award is a tuition discount only — Wellington living costs, accommodation, uniform and equipment, insurance and your student visa are separate.

Rolling intakes: applications must be submitted at least two months before your chosen course start date. The discount applies from year two subject to an 80% first-year average — confirm current terms on cordonbleu.edu/new-zealand

What it covers

15% Tuition Discount Across the Final Two Years of Study. This is a reduction in tuition, not a full ride. You still fund the remainder, plus living costs and the balance your visa requires you to show.

account_tree Application Process

1

Confirm you meet degree entry and English requirements

Check that your A/L results or equivalent meet New Zealand university degree entry standards and that you can produce Academic IELTS 6.0 with no band under 5.5, or an accepted alternative.

2

Prepare a CV and statement of purpose

Both are required for the scholarship. Use the statement to show why culinary arts combined with business management, rather than cookery alone, is where your career is going.

3

Apply at least two months before your start date

Send your application forms and supporting documents to enrol@cordonbleu.edu no later than two months before the course start date. Late applications are not considered for the award.

4

Fund year one and perform

Budget for the full first-year tuition plus Wellington living costs. Maintaining an 80% average in year one is what unlocks the 15% discount for years two and three.

5

Apply for your New Zealand student visa

Apply to Immigration New Zealand with your offer, tuition receipt, proof of living funds and insurance. Wellington accommodation should be arranged before you travel.
