University of Edinburgh Global Scholarships
The Global Scholarships at the University of Edinburgh is an umbrella scheme covering several named awards — including the Edinburgh Global Undergraduate Scholarships, Global Master's Scholarships, and country-specific awards. Sri Lankan applicants are eligible across all streams. Awards typically range from £5,000 to £10,000 per year and are applied as a fee discount on the international tuition rate. Around 50-60 awards are made annually across both UG and PG levels combined.

International Fee Status
You must be classified as an international (overseas) fee-paying student. Sri Lankan citizens normally fall in this bracket unless they have UK settlement or pre-settled status.
Hold an Edinburgh Offer
You must have applied to (or hold an offer for) a full-time programme at Edinburgh starting September 2026. Undergraduate scholarships open after you receive a UCAS offer; master's scholarships after a postgraduate offer.
Strong Academic Record
Equivalent of a UK first or upper second-class honours degree for PG, or competitive A-Level / international school grades for UG (e.g. ABB to AAA equivalent from Sri Lankan A/Ls).
Financial Need Considered
Several streams (notably the Edinburgh Global Online Learning Master's Scholarships and certain country-specific awards) consider household income and financial circumstances alongside academic merit.

Why Edinburgh?
Edinburgh is the UK's fourth-oldest university and consistently ranked in the world top 30. The city's compact size, generally lower cost of living vs London, and Edinburgh Sri Lankan Students Association (ESSA) make it a popular choice for Sri Lankan applicants.
