Coventry University Group Scholarship
Coventry is one of the largest recruiters of international students in the United Kingdom and its scholarship is deliberately simple: £2,000 off tuition fees each year for bachelor's and master's degrees, which across a three-year bachelor's totals £6,000 — about LKR 2.4 million at 400 rupees to the pound. There is no essay, no referee, no competition and no application form. If you are an eligible international applicant at a Coventry University Group UK campus, the reduction is applied, provided your full CAS deposit clears in the university's accounts by the date stated in your offer letter and you then successfully enrol. That deposit condition is the entire mechanism and it is where students lose the award — a late transfer from a Sri Lankan bank, a payment sent through a third party that cannot be reconciled, or a deposit paid after the offer-letter date can all cost you the reduction. Be honest with yourself about the scale. This is a fee discount, not a scholarship in the funding sense. Coventry's international tuition sits in the region where a £2,000 reduction trims roughly a tenth off the annual fee, and it does nothing for accommodation, living costs or the maintenance funds the UK Student visa requires you to evidence separately. Sponsored students are explicitly excluded, so if a Sri Lankan employer, a government department or an external scholarship is paying your fees, you will not receive this. Coventry also runs larger Vice-Chancellor's awards in some cycles — worth up to several thousand pounds more — but those are separate schemes with their own conditions and are not offered every year, so check what is actually open for your intake rather than assuming.

fact_check Eligibility Criteria
International Applicants at UK Campuses
Open to Coventry University Group international applicants studying at the UK campuses, excluding those eligible for the EU Bursary. Sri Lankan applicants paying international fees qualify.
Self-Funded Students Only
Sponsored students are not eligible. If your fees are paid by an employer, a government body or an external scholarship, the reduction does not apply — a point worth checking before you accept a partial sponsorship that costs you this discount.
Taught Full-Time Degrees
The award covers taught full-time undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Research degrees, part-time study and short courses fall outside it.
The Deposit Deadline Is the Real Test
Your full CAS deposit must be cleared in the university's accounts by the date specified in your offer letter. Sri Lankan bank transfers can take several working days and may be delayed by outward remittance approvals, so pay well ahead of the stated date and keep the transfer receipt.
You Must Successfully Enrol
The reduction is confirmed on enrolment. Deferring your start date, changing campus or switching course can affect eligibility — confirm with admissions in writing before making any change.
It Does Not Combine With Every Other Discount
Coventry runs several fee reductions across its group. Ask admissions which of them can be held together and what your net fee actually is, in pounds, before you convert anything to rupees.
account_tree Application Process
Apply for admission to a taught degree
Apply directly to Coventry or through an authorised representative for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme at a UK campus.
Read the offer letter for the deposit date
The scholarship condition lives in your offer letter, not on a scholarship page. Note the exact date by which the full CAS deposit must have cleared.
Pay the deposit early, from a traceable account
Use a bank transfer that can be reconciled to your name and student ID. Payments made by a third party or through an informal channel are a frequent cause of delays for Sri Lankan applicants and can miss the deadline.
Get the CAS and check the net fee
When the CAS is issued, verify that the reduced fee is reflected. The CAS fee figure is what the visa application relies on, so an error here creates a visa problem later.
Apply for the UK Student visa
Sri Lankan applicants apply online, pay the Immigration Health Surcharge and give biometrics in Colombo. You must evidence the maintenance amount required for study outside London, in addition to any outstanding fees.
Enrol on time
The reduction is applied on successful enrolment. Arrive for the enrolment window rather than late, which also protects your visa compliance record.
Why Coventry?
Coventry University has built its model around applied, employment-focused teaching and large international cohorts, with campuses in Coventry, London and Scarborough plus a wider group structure. It is strong in engineering, automotive and motorsport disciplines, computing, business, nursing and health. For Sri Lankan students the practical draws are lower living costs in the Midlands than in London, a very large existing international community, and clear progression routes from foundation and top-up programmes into full degrees. The scholarship's value is modest, but the transparency is genuinely useful: you know the number before you apply and it does not depend on beating anyone.
