Bath International Scholarship

Bath International Scholarships are £5,000 tuition fee reductions awarded to outstanding international postgraduate students joining a one-year taught Master's at the University of Bath. The university is consistently ranked in the UK top 10 by The Guardian and The Times, with particularly strong programmes in Management, Engineering, Architecture, and Politics. Sri Lankan applicants with first-class undergraduate degrees in their target field are competitive — Bath operates a separate scholarship form, so this is a slightly higher-effort award than the rolling automatic schemes at peers like Exeter.

Strong Academic Record

Bath expects results equivalent to a UK 2:1 or first-class. For Sri Lankan applicants this typically means a second-upper or first-class honours from Colombo, Moratuwa, Peradeniya, SLIIT, NSBM, or a strong overseas Bachelor's.

public

International Fee Status

Open to self-funding international students paying overseas tuition fees. Sponsored students (Chevening, Commonwealth, employer-sponsored) are not eligible — the award targets self-funders.

English Proficiency

Meet Bath's standard English requirement — typically IELTS 6.5 overall with no element below 6.0, or 7.0 for Management and some Humanities programmes. Sri Lankan applicants with English-medium degrees may submit an MOI letter in place of IELTS for some programmes.

account_tree Application Process

1

Apply to Bath postgrad by April

Submit your Master's application via the Bath online application portal (samis.bath.ac.uk). Aim to apply by April so you have an offer in hand before the scholarship form closes.

2

Submit the scholarship form by 31 May

Once you receive your offer, complete the separate Bath International Scholarship form within the applicant portal. You'll need a short statement (max 500 words) on your academic achievements, career goals, and why Bath is the right fit.

3

Selection committee review

Applications are assessed by a faculty-level committee in June. Selection is on academic merit and motivation. Outcomes are emailed by late June / early July.

4

Confirm and enrol

Successful applicants must accept the scholarship and the firm offer within the deadline stated in the award letter. The £5,000 is applied as a direct deduction from the first tuition invoice at enrolment.

Why Bath?

The University of Bath sits in the UK top 10 for student satisfaction and is one of the country's youngest universities to break into the QS top 200. The city of Bath itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site, with significantly lower living costs than London while still being 90 minutes from the capital by train.
