In most countries you apply for the visa first and the bank transfer is supporting evidence. In the Netherlands the order flips — your HEI cannot start the IND filing until the tuition + living-cost transfer reaches their account. Miss this by two weeks and you miss the intake.

Valid Passport + Biometrics
Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond visa expiry; biometrics at the Dutch consulate in New Delhi or VFS Colombo.

Send transcripts to Nuffic for the credential statement (typically required by your HEI).

Transfer tuition + living-cost proof
Tuition + ~€14,000 transferred to the HEI bank account. The HEI confirms receipt and starts the IND filing.

HEI files MVV with IND
Your university acts as your sponsor with IND. Filing typically in 1 week; IND decision in 2–4 weeks.

Collect MVV at consulate
Once approved, collect the MVV sticker at the Dutch consulate in New Delhi (or VFS Colombo where available). Allow 1 week.

BSN + residence permit
Within 5 days of arrival, register at your municipality (gemeente) for the BSN. Within 2 weeks, collect the physical residence permit card from the IND desk.
