How scholarships change this math
Holland Scholarship offers €5,000 one-off awards for non-EU Master's applicants. Orange Tulip Scholarship is country-specific (Sri Lankans are eligible) at participating HEIs. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's funds €1,400/month + tuition + travel. Many Dutch HEIs offer institutional merit awards — Leiden Excellence, Erasmus University Holland Scholarship, etc.

Demand from foreign tech firms (Booking.com, ING, ASML) and a notoriously tight housing supply. Eindhoven, Delft and Groningen are 30–40% cheaper for student-grade housing. -
Can I work during studies? expand_more
16 hours/week year-round, or full-time during June, July, August. Most students earn €12–€16/hour at retail, hospitality or campus jobs. -
What is the Orientation Year (zoekjaar)? expand_more
The zoekjaar is a 12-month residence permit after graduation with full work rights — switch employers freely, work part-time or freelance. After 12 months you transition to a Highly Skilled Migrant permit (most graduate jobs qualify). -
How does the Dutch credential evaluation work? expand_more
Nuffic (the Dutch organisation for international cooperation in education) issues a credential statement for Sri Lankan transcripts. Most HEIs require this for admission. Costs ~€175 and takes 3–4 weeks. -
Are Dutch degrees recognised in Sri Lanka? expand_more
Yes — research universities (TU Delft, UvA, Utrecht, Eindhoven, Leiden, Groningen, Maastricht, Tilburg, Twente, Wageningen, Erasmus, Radboud, VU Amsterdam) are recognised by Sri Lankan UGC. Universities of Applied Sciences are case-by-case.
