Course Overview
EPFL's MSc Robotics is one of Europe's top robotics programmes, drawing students from across the world to its Lausanne campus. The curriculum spans robot mechanics, perception, control, machine learning for robotics, swarm robotics, biomedical robotics, and human-robot interaction. EPFL hosts globally-recognised robotics labs — including the Biorobotics Laboratory (BioRob), the Computational Intelligence and Learning Laboratory, and the labs that spun out Anybotics (autonomous quadrupeds) and MindMaze (medical neurotechnology).
Two years, taught entirely in English. Sri Lankan applicants with BSc backgrounds in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering from Moratuwa, Peradeniya, SLIIT, or international universities are the natural fit. Tuition is CHF 730/semester (~CHF 1,460/year). The Master's thesis is typically completed inside a research lab or industry partner (Anybotics, MindMaze, Pix4D, Sonova, Logitech, Stadler Rail's automation division).
Entry Requirements

Career Outcomes & PR
EPFL Robotics graduates feed into Switzerland's robotics industry — Anybotics, ABB Robotics, Stadler Rail's automation arm, Sonova, Logitech R&D, Pix4D — and the wider European robotics ecosystem (KUKA, Siemens, Boston Dynamics EU). Switzerland's 6-month post-graduation permit and STEM-exempt work-permit conversion under the non-EU quota applies. Starting salaries: CHF 95k–115k. Sri Lankan returnees with EPFL Robotics credentials are rare but well-placed for senior automation, R&D, and consulting roles at MAS Holdings (automation), Brandix, Hayleys, and at growing local robotics startups.
