MSc Marine Sciences
University of Gothenburg
Course Overview
The University of Gothenburg's MSc in Marine Sciences is taught from Sweden's leading centre for marine research, with direct access to the Kristineberg and Tjärnö marine research stations on the Swedish west coast. The 2-year (120 ECTS) English-taught Master's covers marine biology, oceanography, marine chemistry and ecology, fisheries and ecosystem management, with extensive fieldwork, lab work, and a substantial research thesis. Gothenburg is a hub for the Swedish marine and maritime sector.
Sri Lankan applicants — biology, zoology, fisheries, and environmental-science graduates — choose Gothenburg for: 100% English-medium teaching, world-class marine field facilities, and Sweden's open post-study work pathway. Given Sri Lanka's coastal economy and fisheries, marine-science expertise is highly relevant. The MSc suits those targeting marine and fisheries research, coastal and ecosystem management, environmental consultancy, and PhD study.
