MSc Information Systems - Information Security Management

Örebro University's Master's Programme in Information Systems - Information Security Management is a two-year, 120-credit programme taught in English that leads to a Master of Science in Informatics. It deliberately balances technical and non-technical perspectives: the first year covers information-security fundamentals, IT security, research methods and the regulatory frameworks organisations must comply with, while the second year develops advanced research and investigation skills and specialised applications, ending with a 30-credit independent thesis. The focus is on managing security across an organisation, from governance and risk to incident handling, rather than purely on hacking techniques.

The programme is open to graduates in informatics, computer science or business administration, which makes it a good fit for Sri Lankan IT, information-systems and management-information-systems graduates from SLIIT, NSBM, IIT, Colombo, Moratuwa or Kelaniya who want to move into security governance, compliance or consulting. With GDPR, NIS2 and Sri Lanka's own Personal Data Protection Act driving demand, security managers are among the most sought-after IT professionals.
