Course Overview
Stockholm University's MSc Business Analytics is a 1-year (60 ECTS) accelerated programme jointly run between the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV) at the Kista campus and Stockholm Business School — placing the curriculum at the intersection of data science methods (Python, R, SQL, machine learning) and business problem-solving (operations, marketing analytics, financial modelling). The 1-year structure is unusual in Sweden (most Master's are 2 years / 120 ECTS) and is designed for applicants who already hold a strong quantitative Bachelor's and want a fast track into analytics roles.
Sri Lankan applicants — typically CS / Engineering / Statistics / Quantitative Business Bachelor's holders from Moratuwa, Colombo (Statistics / Maths / Business Analytics), Peradeniya, SLIIT, NSBM, or NIBM — choose Stockholm Business Analytics for: 1-year accelerated structure (versus the 2-year industry standard), lower tuition than KTH MSc CS (~SEK 140,000/year, LKR 4.48M/yr), Kista campus tech-corridor access, and Sweden's 12-month post-study residence permit. The curriculum covers data preparation and management, statistical learning, machine learning for business, predictive analytics, business intelligence and visualisation, plus a Master's thesis (15 ECTS) often run with a Stockholm-area corporate partner. Academic
