Course Overview

TU Graz's MSc Information and Computer Engineering (ICE) is a joint degree of the Faculty of Computer Science and Biomedical Engineering and the Faculty of Electrical and Information Engineering — a deliberately interdisciplinary Master's bridging hardware and software, with substantial weight on embedded systems, cybersecurity, signal processing, and the increasingly important hardware-software co-design space. The IAIK Institute (Institute of Applied Information Processing and Communications) at TU Graz is a globally-recognised cryptography research centre — IAIK researchers were core contributors to the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerability discoveries that reshaped processor security.

Sri Lankan applicants from EE / CS / SE / Mechatronics Bachelor's backgrounds (Moratuwa EE / CSE / Mechatronics, Colombo UCSC, SLIIT, NSBM, NIBM) use TU Graz ICE for: tuition at €1,480/year non-EU, a direct line into Austria's Silicon Alps semiconductor and embedded employer cluster (AVL, NXP Austria, AT&S, ams OSRAM, Infineon Austria), and Graz's lower cost of living than Vienna (~15-20% cheaper). The 4-semester (120 ECTS) curriculum offers specialisations in Cybersecurity, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing and Communications, plus Computational Intelligence. The mandatory Master's thesis (30 ECTS) is often run jointly with industry partners (AVL, NXP, Infineon) or in IAIK's cryptography research labs. Sri Lankan returnees route into senior embedded engineering, hardware security, and signal processing roles at WSO2, IFS R&D, MillenniumIT, MAS Holdings (Industry 4.0), Dialog Axiata, Sri Lanka Telecom, plus academic posts at Moratuwa, SLIIT, and NSBM.
